5 POLICIES
GRADING POLICY:
Generally, NSU grading policy will be followed. However, minor deviation is possible depending on
the situation.
EXAM POLICY:
There is no make-up option for quizzes and in-class exams. A make-up exam for a midterm or final
exam will not be scheduled unless an absence is due to an absolutely unavoidable, justifiable reason.
For such unavoidable situations, a written explanation must be presented prior to the exam. If a class
test or midterm exam cannot be administered on the scheduled date, it will be automatically
rescheduled to the next available class, unless otherwise indicated.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
After the faculty, students must swipe their RFID cards at the card reader located in the classroom. A
card swipe that is 30 minutes late will be considered absent. Four consecutive absences may result
discontinuation.
6 ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION POLICY
Use of Canvas LMS
Detail information about the Canvas Learning Management system is available here
http://www.northsouth.edu/canvas/
All documents (Course outline, Handouts, study materials, PowerPoint presentations) will
uploaded in Canvas
Announcements/Discussions Board in Canvas will be used.
Assignments will be uploaded in Canvas with the submission deadlines.
Students may also communicate through Canvas
Other ways of communication
Students may send e mails to
[email protected] Communications through social media platforms (Facebook etc.) are not official and
discouraged.
The Faculty may send sms to all or individual student by using the rds system
7 ACADEMIC ADVISING
Students should use the following link to find their Academic Advisor on the Department's
website. http://www.northsouth.edu/academic/seps/cee/
Course Outline: CEE212, DCEE, NSU, Spring 2025
North South University
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (DCEE)
Academic difficulties relating to the program may be discussed with the Academic Advisor.
Advisors can be contacted by rds, e-mail, and in-person consultations in their office.
Advisor meetings are recorded and preserved in the rds system. The adviser can also look up
a semester's courses and attendance data in rds.
The advisor will overall counsel, guide and mentor a student. However, course-related
difficulties can be discussed with faculty during the consultation hours posted on the office
door.
8 OUTCOME ACHIEVEMENTS
Students will receive their midterm exam scripts when they have been marked. Faculty will
discuss the Course Outcomes covered and their levels of achievement.
Faculty will provide feedback on Course Outcome achievements in quizzes, assignments,
presentations etc.
Student’s feedback on Course Outcomes survey will be conducted through google form at the
end of the semester.

10 CODE OF CONDUCT
It is imperative that students adhere to the established rules of conduct, which include arriving
on time, remaining quiet during class, and not departing early.
Exam cheating will be regarded a serious offense, and the student will be referred to the
university's disciplinary body.
All of the materials should be tidy, free of confusion, and exhibit professional demeanor.
Duplicating another's work verbatim is a serious violation.
Plagiarism occurs when you use someone else's words, even if you only make slight
alterations to the meaning.
