The document discusses Toyota's 'One Team' advertisement featuring a priest, rabbi, imam, and Buddhist monk attending a football game together, promoting unity among different religions. While the ad aims to showcase common ground, it is criticized for being insensitive and misrepresenting religious figures. The author argues that the portrayal diminishes the authenticity of each religion and suggests an underlying agenda of merging them into a singular belief system.

Following the format of the joke “Enters a bar’. The premise of Toyota’s “One Team” ad is a priest,

rabbi, imam, and Buddhist monk walks into a football game. This advertisement melds their love for

sports and religion with different background together. The four religious figure in the ad take off from

their respective houses of worship in a Totota Tundra to reach at a football game together only to be

chastises by a couple of nuns for running late. The ad shows people can get along, no matter what religion

or culture. The commercial was made with the idea in mind where people of different cultures and

religion can find common ground. But although the overarching concept is nice, in some cases it is

insensitive- they make the Rabbi guy out to such a socially weak person. Buddhist monk is never allowed

to change his robe unless he’s no longer a monk. No representative from Hinduism in the ad as it is the

world’s oldest religion and being third largest now. None of the men in the ad are intended to be the

genuine representation of their respective religion. The intent of the ad is to water down each religion,

mock them and ultimately merge them together into a one world religion.
