Answer Key:
1. Answer: C
2. Answer: A
3. Answer: A
4. Answer: C
5. Answer: D
6. (i) x = –5 can be written as 1.x + 0.y = –5, or 1.x + 0.y + 5 = 0.
(ii) y = 2 can be written as 0.x + 1.y = 2, or 0.x + 1.y – 2 = 0.
(iii) 2x = 3 can be written as 2x + 0.y – 3 = 0.
(iv) 5y = 2 can be written as 0.x + 5y – 2 = 0.
7. Let the cost of a notebook be = ₹ x
Let the cost of a pen be = ₹ y
According to the question, The cost of a notebook is twice the cost of a pen.
i.e., cost of a notebook = 2×cost of a pen
x = 2×y
x = 2y
x-2y = 0
x-2y = 0 is the linear equation in two variables to represent the statement, ‘The cost of a notebook is twice
the cost of a pen.’
