Government School - Class 11 Physics Unit Test

Chapters: 2 - Units and Measurements, 3 - Motion in a Straight Line

Time: 45 Minutes Max Marks: 20

Section A: Very Short Answer (1 mark × 5 = 5 marks)

1. What is a physical quantity?

2. Define displacement.

3. Write the dimensional formula for force.

4. What is the SI unit of velocity?

5. What is meant by scalar quantity? Give one example.

Section B: Short Answer (2 marks × 3 = 6 marks)

6. The time period of a pendulum is given by T = 2 * pi * sqrt(L/g). Check the correctness of this

formula using dimensional analysis.

7. Differentiate between average speed and instantaneous speed.

8. A car moves with uniform acceleration from rest and reaches a velocity of 20 m/s in 4 seconds.

Find the acceleration and the distance travelled.

Section C: Long Answer (3 marks × 3 = 9 marks)

9. What are significant figures? Explain with examples how they are used in calculations.

10. A body moves with an initial velocity of 10 m/s and accelerates uniformly at 2 m/s^2. Find the

distance covered in 5 seconds and the final velocity.

11. A particle covers half of the total distance with speed v1 and the other half with speed v2. Find

the average speed of the particle for the entire journey.
