VIRTUAL MERCHANT MARINE REGIMENTAL PROGRAM – 1 (MMRP-1)

NARRATIVE REPORT
July 25-August 6, 2022

A. INTRODUCTION:
1. How I came up with my belief to join the Virtual Merchant Marine Regimental Program
(MMRP)?
I came to believe in joining the virtual Marine Regimental Program so that I could have
more experience and training which I think can prepare me for my future work as a seafarer. It
also makes me join the MMRP 1 to become more productive during my vacation and to work
myself out to become physically fit and mentally prepared for the next training. Hence, the
Subjects that are listed on the MMRP 1 motivate me to join because there are some subjects that
I am not doing well. First is the Values Development, which for me will make me benefit when it
comes to giving values to everything and every action that I make. In short, I think it will make me
a better individual. Second is the Celestial Navigation, which is very hard for me to learn during
the past school year due to limited resources, time and laboratory. Third is the Physical Fitness,
because I am not very active in exercise and I think this course will help me develop my Physical
fitness. Lastly, it is because the MMRP 1 is one of the required subjects that I needed to pass.
for me to enroll on the next level.

What should I expect to achieve after completing the training program?

I expect myself to become physically fit and mentally prepared after the training. Due to the
programs given on this training course, I think that I will not only be trained physically but also
become more proficient in English. I also think that I will become more active when it comes to
exercise due to one of the subjects of this course which is Physical Fitness. I think that after
this training I will become more knowledgeable and prepared for the 3rdyear training and subjects
including parts that are related to Celestial Navigation. Hence, It will boost up my performance
and level of thinking that will make me more relatable to the upcoming topics. Therefore, it can
upgrade and make me more proactive in my future class subjects. I also think that the completion
of this program will enhance my perspective and daily habits, making me more responsible on my
Duties, tasks, and activities that will be assigned to me not only in school but also in my future work.
as a seafarer. I also envisioned myself as an active leader and listener to all of my classmates.
and comrades due to the nature of this training which I think will give me leadership skills.

B. CITE YOUR EXPERIENCES/ACTUAL PERFORMANCE DURING THE CONDUCT OF

VIRTUAL MMRP BASED ON THE FOLLOWING TRAINING COMPONENTS:

Academic Enhancement:
1.1 – Collision Regulations & Celestial Navigation Computation for BSMT Students
Auxiliary Machineries for BSMarE Students

The training on Collision Regulation was so innovative, informative, and instructive.

making it easier to learn. Providing us with an easy way to solve every problem in navigation.
and at the same time giving us ideas on plotting and the rules and regulations at sea.
gives us logical examples that enhance our critical thinking in terms of analyzing
situational circumstances on board. It also makes me more confident on manually plotting
the coordinates of the ship, DR, and how to determine speed, distance, and time
the ship. In short, it refreshes our knowledge on the navigation.
understandable. Overall, it enhances my English proficiency in all basic aspects such as
Grammar and construction of a sentence

1.3 Discipline and Values Development

I experience a short and meaningful experience during this 2-day course. It gives
My basic knowledge on knowing who I am to myself, who I am to other people, and what is
the character that I am portraying to be. These are things that make me think of what role
must I accomplish as an individual, as a person and as a future seafarer. This is very
critical for me, because it determines my role at the present and on the future. In short,
Values Development makes me realize the values that I must develop on myself to
become a better and new person.

1.4 Leadership Formation

Due to the given subjects and group tasks that I encounter, I am well aware that I
I am developing a leadership training program with my fellow cadets. In terms of group dynamics.
tasks, my leadership skills in managing my group mates are improving, making it more
It is easy for me to handle my classmates and make the task easier to accomplish.
Hence, I also become a more obedient person and a good listener, giving me an
advantage on how to solve circumstances that may occur on our team and work out any
flaws as a team. This boosts our adaptability to work together as one and become a group
of leaders.

2. Non-Academic Enhancement:
2.1 Seafarers Life Familiarization -n/a
2.2 Physical Fitness Training (PFT)-
The Physical Fitness Training really gives me the ability to perform well and
become more physically fit. It literally trained my body to its full potential, giving me an
advantage in terms of building up my stamina and strength. The training that I encounter is
more like a Leadership and discipline exercise training. Following orders from the
appointed one and executing it accordingly as demonstrated. Which makes me an
obedient member and leader. This Physical Fitness Training also improves my daily living,
giving me more energy and burning fats on my body. Overall, the Physical Fitness training
is a very excellent and amazing experience. Given that the instructor is also an amazing
and respectable leader.

C. WHICH OF THE ABOVE TRAINING COMPONENTS DO YOU LIKE MOST AND WHY?
The Physical Fitness Training, because it not only gives me a positive habitual exercise.
everyday, but also gives me the opportunity to be disciplined while having a genuine
camaraderie with my fellow cadets during the training. It boosts my confidence as I command
to them on doing exercise with the given instructions given by our instructor. I also gained a lot of
experience such as stating commands and following the commands strictly. I engaged with a lot
of cadets which I think makes us unite as one. Hence, making us more solid and at the same
time disciplined with one principle. It also gives me a lot of strength and stamina when it comes to
exercise due to its hard yet beneficial type of exercise which composes of; neck flexion, head
extension, neck rotation, shoulder rotation, big rotation/ small rotation, shoulder shrug, side arm
pull, hips rotation, front/side/back knee pull, knee rotation, ankle rotation, and heels raise on
warm up and also consists of extreme exercise in two categories which consist of high
jumper, squat bender, stationary jogging, bend and reach, push up, Knee Bender, Trunk Twister,
Turn and Bounce, Mountain Climbing, and Squat Thrust which makes me more physically fit and
disciplined.

D. WHICH OF THE ABOVE TRAINING COMPONENTS DID YOU LIKE THE LEAST?
WHY?
also believe that it needs attention because I can’t clearly see the discipline with this subject that
I've been expecting this before enrollment. It also has the riskiest time on MMRP given that it only
has limited time, yet the time given to it is day 1 and day 2 which I think is not okay because
Some students who have problems enrolling may have missed this class and must take the final.
assessment even though they didn’t meet the professor in this subject.

E. EXPRESS YOUR POSITIVE IMPRESSION AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ON VIRTUAL

MMRP THIS TIME OF PANDEMIC?
I think the good things and points that this Virtual MMRP Training during this pandemic is that
There are courses that are executed pretty well and are very effective in training. One of the
subject that I think is very helpful is the Physical Fitness, although I think it is much better if we
can execute this course on site for the instructor to see the flaws that we are making and
correct us so that we can have proper training and exercise. I also think that the subjects that
are chosen in the Virtual MMRP is very helpful for me as a standard student. I also think that
having a group from another branch of the school is also helpful to enhance our camaraderie
other person, which I think is helpful for us in the future. Given that our comrades and crew
Mates came from different parts of the world. So having our group mates from different places is
a very efficient way for us to be trained socially. Overall, it is a good and amazing experience
given that this MMRP is a Virtual training, which makes the learning and resources limited.
Hence, the purpose of the MMRP training is executed very well.

F. WHAT ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS/ SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE THE CONDUCT OF

NEXT VIRTUAL MMRP TRAINING?
My suggestion is to make sure that the next MMRP training will last at least a week.
before the class preparation on accepting students on the google class. I also suggest to make a
assigned person that will make a video that guides all the students on what to do and how to enroll
on MMRP to ensure that the student will be correctly enrolled. I also suggest to have an early
access to the modules and provided resources a week before our class so that we can review them
modules and have an Idea during the class. Lastly is to have an assigned overall temporary
student representative on the Group so that there won’t be any unnecessary questions that the
Instructors repeatedly answer in private messages.

G. CONCLUSIONS (Other Constructive comments)

In conclusion, it is a fun and awesome experience attending this training program.
Although, I think it is less effective when it comes to subjects such as Celestial Navigation that
needs laboratory and more resources for us to understand fully well the course, overall it is a very
efficient and effective way to train us students virtually. I also think that the Physical Fitness
Training is one of the most effective ways I learn during a Virtual training. Which gives me a
habitual exercise during morning that makes me maintain and improve my Physical Fitness.
Overall, it is an excellent and successful MMRP 1 training.

MMRP, or the Merged Memory Reconstruction Process, is an innovative approach in cognitive neuroscience aimed at understanding how memories are formed, integrated, and retrieved in the human brain. The process highlights the dynamic and adaptive nature of memory, showing that memories are not static but are constantly being re-evaluated and reshaped through new experiences and information. MMRP emphasizes the interconnectedness of various memory systems, shedding light on how episodic, semantic, and procedural memories work together to create a coherent narrative of our experiences. This understanding is pivotal for developing strategies to enhance memory retention and retrieval, which can have significant implications for education, therapy, and cognitive rehabilitation. Furthermore, MMRP provides insights into memory disorders, paving the way for targeted interventions that could help individuals with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease or PTSD. By exploring the complexities of memory reconstruction, MMRP not only contributes to theoretical frameworks in psychology but also has practical applications in improving mental health and cognitive functioning. The continued research into MMRP promises to unveil deeper insights into the mechanics of memory and offers hope for innovative treatments for memory-related disorders.
