Description of project: The project involves Borehole/well development, lying of
70.57km .pipes, construction of storage tanks of water kiosks, animal troughs and
individual water connection.

Hazards & safety measures
. KCCL is licensed water contractor with necessary permits our worker are always
equipped with personal protective equipment and safety documents.
Process& specialization area:-
Well/Borehole development: we shall improve on existing boreholes as
instruction. We shall install solar voltage pumping system with diesel generation
Backup.
Pipeline
We shall lay pipeline and connect to storage tanks that we shall construct
Storage tanks
Storage tank will act as reservoir of water from main line to ensure consumers get
wall fulltime water shall be distributed by gravity or by pumping consumers.
Building Admin blocks
Administration blocks shall be for use by water service operator and finance
offices maintenance personals
Water troughs
Water troughs for animals, shall be constructed in according to specifications.
Water kiosks.
These water kiosks will be supplied by storage tanks or from pipe main line.
Sequence of work
Upon establishment of contractors campsite and offices. The contactors surveyor
with setting out date provided by site engineer from project manager shall
carryout setting out.
Upon approval of setting out by engineers representative. Construction work, will
commerce. Supervisor site engineer and Forman will use drawing provided.
Electromechanical engineer will replace existing pumps with solar voltaic
pumping system. Also backup diesel generator shall be installed with change over
suite. He will train local operator hydrologist will guide on which boreholes will
need to be developed.
Foreman will use drawing provided by site engineering and approved setup to
start excavation work of pipe tends when trenches are approved laying of HDPE
pipes will be done and jointing with flexible mechanical joint done by skilled
Plumbers. Other fittings shall be fixed in accordance to their respective BS.
Requirement upon lying and joining of pipeline pressure testing shall be carried
out to ensure no leakage at joint or any other section of pipe.
Foreman incharge of construction of administration block shall be provided with
drawing of structure. This is after employer hands over construction site for
administration block to be construction. Foreman incharge of construction of
animal drinking troughs for cattle and cows or for sheep & goats shall be instructed
by the site engineer upon consultation of project manager, community and
employer & funder . Water kiosks shall be construction as per instruction from
engineers.
Supervisory arrangement and monitoring arrangements.
To ensure the employees do the work safely, We shall be conducting induction and
toolbox meetings to create awareness on potential risks when carrying out work if
correct procedures are ignored.
Schedule of plant- Any equipment in bad working condition shall not be
used to execute work. All machine shall be inspected on braking system,
emission, hydraulic systems, lighting systems, noise, broken parts, leakages,
workout tyres, horn system, engine sounds, services, worn-out parts and
repair shall be conducted before machine is allowed to work in our site.
EH Safety- we shall adhere to occupation health standard we shall train our
workers on safety, first aids, firefighting, labors laws, stress and fatigues
management.
First aid- we shall have trained first t aiders in our site with all required firs
aid equipment.
P.P.E- All our workers will have personal protective equipment that conform
to the task they are carrying out. Worn out PPE’S shall be replace
emediately.
Demarcations-our site shall be well demarcated for safe and security. Barrier
tapes shall be place where we have excavated trenches.
Third party safety- we shall carry out our project delighting to avoid
interferes with health and safety of Neibouring properties.
Emergency- we shall have emergency responsemechanism.eg firefighting
services, KPLC hotline, 999.
MOBILIZATION SHEDULE
Premobilization
After signing contract agreement. We shall provide performance bonds to the
employer (Turkana county government). We shall be issued possession of site
upon issuing contractor’s risk insurance. We shall get approvals from necessary
Authorities e.g., NEMA license, WRMA license, DOSH license, Business permits.
When all legal requirements demand are meet we shall identify Bench marks and
establish temporary Benchmarks.
We shall establish a campsite for our site office, housing workers, parking, sanitary
facilities, and garages & stores.
Equipment mobilization
We shall mobilize equipment procured to site.
All machines derived to our site shall be tested and commissioned before used in
our site.
Personal mobilization
Key staff proposed CVs should be forwarded to the project engineer for approval.
Site establishment
Our site will be kept site and secured, we shall use our traffic marshals & road
signage to ensure smooth flow of traffic in our site.
Our site shall have office and accommodation installed with power, clean water &
sanitary facility.
Material mobilization
All material delivered to our site shall be kept safe and stored in right manner
Temporary utilities
We shall temporary connect water and KPLC to our sites.
Safety and security
We shall safe guard any hazardous section of site e.g., excavated sections.
We shall also secure our site from vandalism and other damages.
Stakeholder’s communication
Prior to start of physical work we shall conduct public participation meetings to
create awareness to community on the project.
Risk managements
Upon instructions by the engineer we shall forward risk managements reports.
