ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION ( A.P.

Any sequence of numbers where the difference between two


consecutive numbers is same is said to form an A.P.

eg. 1 , 3 , 5 , 7 , ………………..
2 , 6 , 10 , 14 , ………………..

1) General form of an A.P.

a , a+ d , a + 2 d , a+ 3 d , …………….

2) n th term of an A.P. ( a n / l / T n )

an=a+(n–1)d

where , a = first term


d = common difference
n = number of terms

3) Sum of n terms of an A.P. ( Sn )

Sn= n [2a+(n–1)d]
