Chief Synoptic features during the week (31.07.2025 to 06.08.2025):
31.07.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Sri Ganganagar, Rohtak, Banda, Sidhi, Ranchi,
Diamond Harbour and thence southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
01.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Sri Ganganagar, Rohtak, Shahjahanpur, Gorakhpur,
Darbhanga, Shantiniketan, Canning and thence south eastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.Westerly to
North Westerly winds are prevailing over Karnataka upto 3.1 Km above mean sea level.
02.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozpur, Ambala, Najibabad, Shahjahanpur,
Barabanki, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Berhampore and thence southeastwards to the northeast Bay of
Bengal.
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Gulf of Mannar & adjoining south Tamil Nadu at 5.8 km above mean
sea level.
03.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level passed through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Shamli, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow,
Chapra, Bankura, Canning and thence southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over south west Bay off North Tamil Nadu persisted and lay between 1.5 km &
4.5 km above mean sea level.
An east-west trough ran roughly along Lat. 7°N at 5.8 km above mean sea level.
04.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Dehradun, Shahjahanpur, Valmiki Nagar,
Chapra, Jalpaiguri and thence east-northeastwards to the Arunachal Pradesh.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coast between 3.1 km & 5.8 km
above mean sea level tilting southward with height persisted.
The east-west trough now runs roughly along Lat. 12°N from southern parts of eastcentral Arabian Sea to
Southern parts of central Bay of Bengal across South Interior Karnataka & Tamil Nadu and the cyclonic circulation
over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coast between 3.1 & 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southward
with height.

05.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Patiala, Muzaffarnagar, Kheri, Valmik
Nagar and thence east-northeastwards to the Arunachal Pradesh close to foot hills of Himalayas.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coast persists and now seen between
1.5 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southward with height.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over Rayalaseema & neighbourhood persists and extends upto 1.5 km above
mean sea level.
The east-west trough now runs roughly along Lat. 10°N from southern parts of eastcentral Arabian Sea to central
parts of south Bay of Bengal across South Interior Karnataka & north interior Tamil Nadu and the cyclonic
circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coast between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting
southward with height.
06.08.2025:
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Karnal, Moradabad, Kheri, Jalpaiguri and
thence northeastwards to the Arunachal Pradesh close to foothills of Himalayas. The upper air cyclonic
circulation over South Madhya Maharashtra & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over Rayalaseema & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coasts at 3.1 km above mean sea
level persists.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over north Kerala & neighbourhood now lies over South Interior Karnataka &
neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level.
The east-west trough roughly along Lat. 12°N from southern parts of eastcentral Arabian Sea to central parts of
south Bay of Bengal across north Kerala, South Interior Karnataka & north interior Tamil Nadu and the cyclonic
circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coasts persists and now seen at 3.1 km above mean sea
level.

Rainfall distribution:
Over Coastal Karnataka: Rainfall occurred at most places from 31st July to 03rd and 06th August 2025 and at
many places on 4th and 05th August 2025.
Over North Interior Karnataka: Rainfall occurred at a most places on 06th August 2025, at a few places on
31st July and 03rd August 2025 and at one or two places on 1st, 2nd, 04th and 05th August 2025.
Over South Interior Karnataka: Rainfall occurred at most places on 05th and 06th August 2025, and at many
places on 04th August 2025, at a few places on 31st July, 01st August and 03rd August 2025 and at one or two
places on 02nd August 2025..

Over Coastal Karnataka: Southwest monsoon was Active on 06th August 2025, and it was normal on 03rd August
2025 and weak on remaining days..
Over North Interior Karnataka: Southwest monsoon was Vigorous on 06th August 2025 and it was Weak on
remaining days.
Over South Interior Karnataka: Southwest monsoon was active on 05 & 06th August 2025 and it was normal on
03rd & 04th August 2025 and weak on remaining days.

Chief synoptic conditions on 07th AUGUST 2025:
❖ The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Chandigarh and thence east-
south-eastwards close to foothills of Himalayas to the northeast Arunachal Pradesh.
❖ The upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay off North Tamil Nadu coasts between 1.5 & 3.1 km
above mean sea level persists.
❖ The east-west trough now runs from Coastal Karnataka to central parts of south Bay of Bengal across
South Interior Karnataka, south Rayalaseema, north Tamil Nadu and the cyclonic circulation over southwest
Bay off North Tamil Nadu coasts between 1.5 & 3.1 km above mean sea level.
❖ The upper air cyclonic circulation over South Interior Karnataka & neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean
sea level has become less marked.
