INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Banks And Burglars. Banks And Burglars (or BNB
for short) is a TTRPG set in a fictitious rendition of the late 2000s
criminal underworld heavily inspired by Rainbow Six, PAYDAY: The
Heist and Heat (1995). BNB puts you in the shoes of “modern day”
criminals in a world that will stop at nothing to put you in a cell or in
hell.
For people who are unfamiliar with TTRPGs - BNB
plays like a choose your own adventure book with an unlimited range
of options with a team based modern crime flavor on top. You can
optionally role play as your character acting as them in their
environment through their own eyes or you can just totally ignore that
but it’s always encouraged to role play. Most of the details in TTRPGs
are filled in with your imagination. Sort of like a book, the author, or in
a TTRPG, the Game Master (GM) explains the details and world
around you. You have complete freedom to act in this fake world
we’re creating in our heads, just with a set of laws to keep everything
grounded.
Usually, measuring your character’s success at a certain action,
like picking a lock or winning a fist fight, is determined by rolling dice
to keep it interesting. Dice are rolled every time you do something
that requires a roll, your GM will ask you to roll a certain die to gauge
your success or failure at that action. The dice roll result can be
increased or decreased by your character's Modifier with that certain
type of roll. The Modifier is always added to the roll. But first to get a
Modifier, you need to build your character’s stats.
Combat is turn based and done in a turn order. This turn order is
determined by rolling dice (Initiative Roll) at the start of combat.
Damage is measured by rolling a D20 die to see if you hit your target
(To Hit Roll), what your weapon’s AP stat is, and what Damage
number you roll.
For people who are unfamiliar with BNB - During a
normal play session of BNB, you will be talking to the people who
hired you, planning and preparing for a heist, doing the job, and
getting paid. Keep in mind, that crime doesn’t always pay. This game
is difficult.
Your goal as a player is to make sure that crime always pays by
any means necessary. You can do any job either loud or in stealth or a
combination of the two, or in any way you like. You are only restricted
by your own logic and the laws of reality. However, pre-planning is
HEAVILY encouraged no matter what.
This game is difficult and each Archetype (class) has their own
very unique role in the team. An Archetype not being present creates
a hole in the team’s options, If one hole is not filled, it becomes a
deep pit. Be there for your crew, and play as one. Work together or die
together.
