Crea ng UAN via UMANG App – Step-by-Step Guide for Employees

The UMANG app (Unified Mobile Applica on for New-age Governance) offers a convenient
way for employees to access a range of government services, including EPFO services like
UAN crea on.

Pre-requisites

Before star ng, the employee should have:

 Aadhaar number

 Mobile number linked with Aadhaar (for OTP verifica on)

 Personal details (Name, DOB, etc.)

 Bank account details (op onal, but may be required later for KYC)

Step-by-Step Process to Create UAN Using UMANG App

Step 1: Download and Install the UMANG App

 Go to Google Play Store or Apple App Store

 Search for UMANG

 Install the official UMANG app by MeitY, Government of India

Step 2: Open the App and Register/Login

 Launch the UMANG app

 Register using your mobile number

 Set a MPIN for easy login

 Login using MPIN or OTP

Step 3: Access EPFO Services

 On the UMANG home screen, go to ‘All Services’

 Search and tap on ‘EPFO’

Step 4: Select ‘UAN Allotment’

 Within the EPFO menu, choose ‘UAN Allotment’

 This service allows you to generate your own UAN using Aadhaar
Step 5: Enter Aadhaar Details

 Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number

 Tap on ‘Get OTP’

 An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar

Step 6: OTP Verifica on

 Enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number

 Tap on ‘Submit’

Step 7: Auto-Fetch of Details

 Your basic details (name, date of birth, gender, etc.) will be fetched from Aadhaar

 Confirm the details displayed

Step 8: Enter Addi onal Details

 Provide the following (if not pre-filled):

o Email ID (op onal)

o Marital status

o Address

o Bank account details (op onal but useful for KYC and claim purposes)

Step 9: Submit Request

 Once all details are entered, tap ‘Submit’

 The system will generate your UAN

Step 10: UAN Allo ed Confirma on

 You will receive an SMS confirma on with your newly created UAN on your
registered mobile number

 You can now use this UAN to link your PF account

A er UAN Genera on – What Next?

1. Share UAN with your employer so they can link it to your PF account

2. Complete KYC by uploading PAN, bank, and Aadhaar details via the UMANG app or
EPFO member portal
3. Ac vate your UAN via the EPFO member portal

4. Start tracking PF contribu ons, claim status, and more using UMANG or EPFO portal

Important Tips

 UAN should be created only once in your life me

 In case of mul ple UANs, you should request UAN merger through EPFO

 Always keep your Aadhaar and mobile number updated
