Weekly Internship Report: Week 1
Internship Location: School No. 22
Week: 1
Dates: [September 09–14, 2024]
Summary of Activities
During my first week of internship at School No. 22, I focused on familiarizing myself with
the school environment, observing classroom dynamics, and assisting teachers in various
tasks. The initial days were spent getting to know the students, teachers, and administrative
staff, as well as understanding the daily routines and protocols of the school.
Classroom Observations
I observed lessons conducted by experienced teachers across different grade levels, including
English language and mathematics classes. These observations provided valuable insights
into effective teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, and student
engagement practices. For example, in an English class for Grade 7, the teacher used
interactive storytelling to introduce new vocabulary, which kept students highly engaged and
active participants in the lesson.
Assisting Teachers
I actively assisted teachers in preparing teaching materials such as flashcards, worksheets,
and visual aids. Additionally, I supported them during lessons by helping individual students
who required extra guidance. This allowed me to build rapport with the students and gain
practical experience in addressing diverse learning needs.
Interaction with Students
Interacting with students was a key focus this week. I introduced myself to the classes I
would be assisting and encouraged them to ask questions or seek help when needed. I also
participated in group activities to better understand their learning styles and preferences.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the initial challenges was managing my time effectively across different tasks. To
address this, I created a daily schedule and prioritized tasks to ensure everything was
completed on time. Additionally, adjusting to the diverse energy levels and behaviors of
students required patience and adaptability, which I actively worked on improving
throughout the week.
Reflections and Learnings
The first week was an enriching experience that highlighted the importance of preparation,
observation, and adaptability in teaching. Observing seasoned teachers gave me a deeper
understanding of how to create a positive and engaging learning environment. I also learned
the value of clear communication and how it can foster strong connections with students.
Plans for Next Week
Moving into the second week, I plan to take a more active role in lesson delivery under the
supervision of the class teacher. I also aim to focus on developing lesson plans and
incorporating innovative teaching methods to support student learning effectively.
