a) addition of 2 numbers – You could add numbers to any number less
than 4 to get 4. So, what numbers are there less than 4? 0, 1, 2, 3 are less
than 4. Now lets see what we need to each of those to make 4.
1) 0 + 4 = 4 2) 1+3=4 3) 2 + 2 = 4 4) 3 + 1 = 4
b) addition 3 numbers- What 2 numbers can we add together and be left
with a value less than 4. 0 + 0, 0 + 1, 1 +1. Now lets see what number we
need to add to those to make four.
1) 0 + 0 + 4 = 4 2) 0 + 1 + 3 = 4 3) 1 + 1 + 2 = 4
c) subtract 2 numbers – This one would have infitnite possibilities. You
pick any number greater than 5 and subtract any number four less than it to
get four. So choose any number that is 5 or greater. In this case I would
choose 6. Subtract a number from six that makes four. In this case, two
works.
