Some people believe that the purpose of education should be to help individuals become useful

members of society. Others say education should help people achieve their personal ambitions.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Education has long been a cornerstone of personal and society development. While some argue that its
primary aim is to produce individuals who can contribute positively to society, others believe that
education should serve personal growth and fulfilment. Both perspective hold merit, and a balance
approach may be most beneficial.

Education is a public good, funded, and structured to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and
ethical values required to participate responsible in civic life. for instance, subject such as history, social
studies, and science help individuals understand their roles as citizens, while vocational training can
prepare them for the job market.

On the other hand, education should be flexible and personalized, allowing students to explore their
talents and define their own paths. When individuals are motivated by personal goals, they are more
likely to be creative, innovative to solve the problems, and also benefit society in the long run. Think of
researchers, entrepreneurs, engineers who have changed the world by following their individual
passions.

In summary, while some people believe education should primarily serve society and others argue for a
focus on personal ambitions, a holistic approach that balances both goal is likely to be the most
effective. Education should prepare individuals to contribute meaningfully to the world, while also
enabling them to achieve their full potential
