What SAP standard for?
System Application products in Data processing.

Layer/Tier both are same.

Presentation layer/tier
Application layer/tier
Data base layer/tier
R1, R2, R3
R standards for real time
R1- Real time 1 tier structure (Presentation, application and
data base layer)
R2- Real time 2 tier structure (Presentation and application-
1tier/layer and data base 1 tier/layer)
R3- Real time 3 tier structure (Presentation-1 tier,
application-1tier, data base is 1tier)
R/3 is renamed as SAP ERP. After few year it is renamed as ECC
system
SAP ECC nothing Enterprise Central Component. It is an old
system. Still few client’s are using this system. SAP has
provided target year is 2026. All ECC clients has to moved S/4
Hana.
Presentation Layer/System/Server:
It would present the screen to enter a user.
Ex, GUI – Graphical User Interface.

In ECC system, we only have GUI , but in S/4 hana GUI as well
as Fiori.
Change in Database in S/4 hana
SAP ECC – They have to depend on third party for Data base.
(Oracle, RDBMS,etc)
S/4 Hana- SAP has built their own data base. They no need to
depend any third parties. SAP build a SAP Hana Data base.

In SAP works with different consulants with different modules.

Two types of consultants.
1. Functional consultants
2. Technical consultants
Functional consultants:
SAP FI & CO
SAP SD  Sales and Distribution
SAP MM Material management
SAP PP Production Planning
SAP HR- Human resources ..etc
Technical Consultant:
SAP ABAPer – They only work on development/customization
related activities. The process/report is not there in our SAP
software.
Ex: Client requirement, to design a new report which is not
there in our sap.
SAP Basis – they install server, Gui. Will check the system
business functions,,,etc whether it working fine or not. Then
hand over it to functional consultants.
SAP security – provide an access for all user

SAP ECC – It is old system. Still clients are using this system
SAP S/4 Hana – It is most popular and having a more features.
S/4 Hana-
S/4 – SAP Business Suit 4th generation
Hana- High memory/performance analytical appliances.
It is in-memory data base. It is too fast. You would get report in
..seconds..
How they build this SAP Hana data base? How it become too
faster?
SAP segregate in two parts.
Hot storage – It is in-memory (Current and previous data gets
stored)
2025 and 2024
Cold storage – Previous ..year data gets store
2023,2022…etc
S/4 Hana – It is an application
SAP Hana – It is Data base

S/4 Hana build a cloud base application.

Cloud base application is SAP Fiori. It is developed for end user
to do their day to day business activities.
GUI- which is installed into your system
Cloud is Fiori(URL to do your activities)
Hybrid Package consist of
On premise and Cloud
On premise nothing but you could use GUI. It is installed into a
system.
Cloud- SAP provide a URL. You can work with laptop,
mobile,tab.. ex, Fiori
For on-premises we have every year release (changes or new
functionalities brought by sap)
For cloud, we have every quarterly release (changes or new
functionalities brought by sap)
S/4 Hana Started first version -On premises -
1511,1610,1709,1809,1909,2020,2021,2022,2023. It is going
to be released 2025.
1610- It is SAP Enterprise Management.
UNIVERSAL JOURNAL
This Universal journal functionality brought in S/4 hana. It is not
there is in ECC.
1.Universal Journal used ACDOCA Table. It stores columnar in
table level.
2. Through this, reconciliation is by design automatically.
3. No data Duplicacy
4.. More flexible for reporting point of view
5. ACDOCA to become faster at transaction level
6. G/L, Account receivable, Account Payable, Asset accounting,
Controlling...etc contains with ACDOCA at transaction level.
7. Parellel account has been introduced.
SAP Fiori is the cloud based latest User Interface (UI) which was
specially developed for SAP S/4 Hana. It is now a new user
experience (UX) to process or analyse day to day business
transactions.
This Fiori developed for only End user activities/core
users/business users.
How the SAP brought this Fiori name?
Fiori mean it is a flower in Italian.
System conversion:
Ex, TATA motors using SAP ECC. He wants to convert/upgrade
from SAP ECC to S/4 Hana 2023
S/4 Hana Version:
On Premise (GUI)- You have a every year release
Cloud- You have every quarterly release.
1610- it is S/4 Hana Enterprise management version.
System Landscape/Types of Servers:
It is an arrangement of servers. Land scape is like a server
system or like a layout of servers.
SAP has three types of servers
1. Development server
2. Quality server
3. Production server
Server: It is a computer that provides the network resources
and provide a services to other computer when they request it.
Client: In SAP environment, it is highest org. structure. It is a
computer running programm the request the service from
server.

Development server- (Consultants has an access)

You have different clients
100- Configuration/customizing related – business processes.
This is the golden client
200- UAT (Testing)
300- Sand box- used for practice purpose.
400- Abaper.- technical consultant
Quality server (Consultant as well as end users/core users
have an access)
100- Testing . then will inform to client to check.. if client is fine
with this functionality… they will move this data from
Development to Production
Production server: (Consultants has only view access.. End
users have an access)
100- used for production/ day to day activities.
It is used for day to day business activities…used by core
business users..
What is Transport request?
Transport request nothing the data which the user enter
business process, it will get store into one system generated
number is called Transport request. The configuration data gets
recorded through Transport request.
Two types of TR’s
1. Customized
2. Work bench
1.Customized: It is used for normal configuration. It is not
having cross client impact. It is used by functional consultants.
Not having cross client impact- The data will not reflect from
one client to another client. (100 to 200)
2.Work bench: It is also used for normal configuration. It is
having cross client impact. It is used by technical consultants.
Changes are done in 100 client will reflect to another client
200,300..etc

Different types of projects:

1. Implementation project
2. Roll out project
3. Support project
4. Upgrade project
1.Implementation project:
It’s nothing but you are using the SAP for the first time is called
Implementation.
Ex, Tata motors were using ORACLE ERP (Non-SAP/Legacy
system). He wants to move to S/4 Hana now.
Non-SAP to SAP is called Implementation. It is also called green
filed project.
You have a consultant. How many consultants are there
into project?
Tata motors wants to implement a FICO, SD, MM and PP
We require a consultant/resources..
FI consultant,(5
CO consultant 2.
SD , MM, PP
Implementation to be done through methodology

issues/errors.
Ticketing tools—Sales force, Remedy…
3.Roll out:
You are already been implemented for one subsidiary and want
to implement for another subsidiary.
Ex. Tata group was implemented S/4 Hana for TATA Motors
business. They wants to do implement for another business
(TATA steel).
4.Upgrade project: Covert from one version to another
version
Ex, S/4 Hana 1709 .. wants upgrade/convert to 2023.
What is the Difference between "Green field and Brown field"?
Green Field – Non-SAP (Different Legacy system/Different ERP
tool to S/4 Hana
Brown field - SAP ECC to S/4 hana
Function consultants:
SAP FICO
SAP MM
SAP SD
SAP PP
Technical consultants:
SAP ABPers – They used to work for Customizing and
development related activity
SAP Basis – They will install the software and check the
business functions every thing is working fine or not..then they
will hand over to the function consultant
SAP Security -They used to given an access for the user.

Customizing/development related activities done by technical

consultants( Abaper).
Ex, new FI report, existing reports changes, workflow…
Functional specification document:
This is prepared by function consultant. As per requirement,
you fill the data into this doc. You will send this document to
Abaper.
Technical specification doc:
Abaper will check Functional specification doc, accordingly he
will prepare a technical specif. doc. Then he start to do
