SLP 2 Unit 1 Lesson 3 Activity 7

The document outlines a statistical analysis activity focusing on the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to compare the effective life of batteries based on material type and operating temperature. It presents a dataset of battery life across three material types and three temperature levels, requiring the application of a stepwise method to determine if there is a significant difference in mean life at a 0.05 significance level. The activity is prepared by Mr. John Marvin S. Canaria.

Course/ Year

Solve the problem using Stepwise Method.

1. The effective life (in hours) of batteries is compared by material type (1, 2 or 3) and
operating temperature: Low (-10˚C), Medium (20˚C) or High (45˚C). Twelve batteries
are randomly selected from each material type and are then randomly allocated to
each temperature level. The resulting life of all 36 batteries is shown below: Is there a
difference in mean life of the batteries for differing material type and operating
temperature levels? Use 0.05 level of significance.
