Task 1: The graph below gives information on the numbers of
participants for different activities at one social centre in
Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
The given picture illustrates the quantity of individuals participating in
various activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia in a 20-year
period starting from 2000.
A glance at the data reveals that those who joined film club outnumbered the
others. Martial arts presented an eratic but relatively stable trend and
remained unchange while the figure for both musical performances and table
tennis experienced depict an upward trend. Amateur dramatics showed a
considerable decrease.
It can be clearly observed that film club and martial arts took over the first
and place with around 64 and 47 participants in 2000 and fluctuated to 65
and 46 members in the correct order in the next 20 years. Amateur
dramatics held the third rank with 36 people in 2000 and went down to less
than 10 members in 2020.
Table tennis rocketed from 17 in 2000 to about 55 members in 2020,
overtook the martial arts, amateur dramatics in number and came second in
this period of time. Musical performances climbed up dramatically from 0 to
around 19 members in 2020.
Task 2: Some people think that competition at work, at school and in
daily life is a good thing. Others believe that we should try to
cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. Discuss
both these views and give your own opinion.
Some people advocate for competition competing the others in every aspect
fields of in daily life such as at work or, at school is beneficial. However,
opponents of that perspective claim cooperating is more crucial. It is a
matter of dispute. As far as I am concerned, both two views hold equal share
the same importance.
From the one side, the supportive factor for the issue is that generating
competition is that it helps individuals develop in various areas aspects in
life. First and foremost, it can be said with certainty that competitions
motivate people to perform better do better in one thing. To illustrate,
students can get good grades and workers can do their best in given tasks.
What is more, a speacial consideration in this case is that by participating in
competitions, people would realize where they are and assess their actual
ability compared to the others. For example, people would stop thinking that
they are best until ranking the first, helping them focus on as a result they
have reasons improving their knowledge and skills try more.
From the other side, those who disagree upon the issue point out that
working in teams is more vital. There is little room for doubt that listening to
and working doing with the other teammates is better than just completing
tasks alonely. For instance, in study, teachers tend to divide their his or her
class to smaller the particular groups to finish the work because they want
them to brainstorm as many ideas as possible cooperate with each other and
finally presenting the best result. Another plus point maybe that, they can
develop their thinking through the experience in cooperating, easily coming
up with creative ideas.
In the light of these facts, the matter mentioned in the topic has pointed out
two main directions whether competing and cooperating in daily life is more
essential. I hold the view that each has its own point, we should try to
balance both of them in a hope to be the best of our ability
