ED 104- Technology for Teaching & Learning 1
Chapter 1- Foundations of Educational Technology Activity
Worksheet
Part I. Short Answer
1. Differentiate educational technology from instructional technology.
Educational technology refers to the overall use of technology to
improve the quality of education. It is useful in different areas such as
teaching, learning, administration, and curriculum development. On
the other hand, instructional technology is a subset of educational
technology that focuses specifically on the tools, methods, and
strategies used to deliver instruction and enhance learning outcomes.
2. Why is the invention of writing considered one of the most important
milestones in Educational technology?
Writing is considered one of the most important milestones in
educational technology because it was the earliest tool used to record
data and knowledge. Through writing, the mass production of books
became possible, which greatly supported the spread of education and
helped develop literacy and learning among people.
Part II. Reflection
In your own words, explain how technology has personally influenced the
way you learn
Today. Give at least 3–5 sentences.
Technology has greatly influenced how I learn today. Whenever I
do not fully understand a lesson, I can easily watch educational videos
to widen my understanding. It also provides me with quick access to
information that I can use to strengthen my answers in class activities
and assignments. In addition, technology has improved the way I
present my work. As a future educator, I can use it to create more
engaging and appealing presentations that help me communicate
ideas more clearly and effectively.
Moreover, technology makes learning more accessible and
flexible. I am not limited to what the teacher discusses in class
because I can explore different online resources to deepen my
knowledge. It also encourages independent learning and helps me
develop critical thinking and creativity. Overall, technology has
transformed my learning by giving me more opportunities to explore,
practice, and grow beyond the classroom.
Part VI. Interactive & Creative Activities
A. Tech in My Life – Concept Mapping
Canva → for designing posters, infographics, and creative school
projects.
CapCut → for editing videos and making multimedia presentations.
Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.) → for writing, making
presentations, saving files online, and working together with
classmates.
Projector/Smart TV → for showing videos, slideshows, and lessons to
the whole class.
B. Case Scenario – Think and Respond
Imagine you are a teacher in a rural area where students have limited
access to technology. What two strategies could you use to still
integrate educational technology effectively?
I think the first strategy that I could use is to utilize my own
device and present offline PowerPoint presentations and pre-
downloaded videos so that students will still be able to experience the
benefits of technology even without internet access. The next strategy
is to tap local radio stations, which are available in most municipalities.
I could collaborate with them to deliver my lessons to students in rural
areas where access to modern technology is limited. In addition, I
could also provide modules to guide the students with the lessons
while listening to the radio. These strategies are proven to be effective,
as they were practiced during the pandemic and continue to be useful
today.
