Review of Topic 1 & 2
The manuscript has a lot of potential. There’s a lot of detail and some syllabus objectives have been
covered very well.
Please make improvements suggested below for Topic 1 & 2 and re-submit. Once we’re happy with the
improvements, you can then proceed to make changes for the rest of the manuscript incorporating
these suggestions.
Several comments have also been put in the manuscript, please look at these and make the suggested
changes.
Topic Introduction needs to be a whole paragraph and should be done at the beginning of every
Topic (not Unit)
Need to break Topics into Units so that information is easier to assimilate. Syllabus has already
been broken into these Units (Follow the sequence in the Topic and Unit Structure attached)
Each Topic or Unit must be started on a new page
Need to state objectives at that start of every Unit level and (not at Topic). Objectives are given
in the syllabus
Learning objectives can be expanded further to reflect the content that will be covered in the
unit.
List Key Terms at the start of unit. All key terms must be in bold in the body text.
Make make sure there is a glossary of Key terms glossary at end of unit, not topic)
Unit 2.2 and 2.3 are a bit shallow, please beef them up
Concepts should be explained from the Known to the Unknown, from the easy to the difficult.
Please include an exercise at the end of the unit (The questions should be of a recalling nature.
Please use various textbooks and exam papers. Please consider creating your own questions as
well)
There must be a revision exercise at the end of the Topic (The questions should be the type to
be expected in the exam. Must include structured, free response.
Diagrams need to be correctly captioned and in the correct sequence
Please include some pictures to make the subject more engaging
Also make sure level of Headings are clearly distinguished (Headings & subheadings). In the
manuscript, sometimes it is not clear which are headings and which are subheadings.
There are not enough practical activities to cater for Paper 2.
Please include examples and case studies as this will aid learning
Please include suggested learning activities such as class discussion, research, ICT links
(websites, YouTube etc.). These will help make the book become more learner centered
Please do not use MCQs. I have noticed that the actual exam has no MCQs. So please convert
the MCQs into structured questions.
All answers to exercises must come at the end of the manuscript.
