Part 1: Multiplication

What is Multiplication?

Multiplication is a way to add the same number over and over. It helps us find the total when we
have groups of the same size.

How to Solve Multiplication Problems:

1. Identify the Numbers: Look at the two numbers you’re multiplying.

2. Think of Groups: Determine how many groups you have.

3. Count Items in Each Group: Figure out how many items are in each group.

4. Multiply: Use the multiplication sign (×) and solve.

Example Problems:

1. Problem 1: 3 × 4

Solution: 3 groups of 4 = 12

2. Problem 2: 5 × 2

Solution: 5 groups of 2 = 10

3. Problem 3: 7 × 6

Solution: 7 groups of 6 = 42

What is Division?

by (the groups).

2. Think About Equal Parts: Decide how many equal parts you want.
