Homework 41 - Triangles Marks : 30

1) If the areas of two similar triangles are in the ratio 25 : 64, find
the ratio of their corresponding sides. [2]

2) The areas of two similar triangles ABC and PQR are 25 cm² and
49 cm² respectively. If QR = 9.8 cm, find BC. [2]

3) The areas of two similar triangles are 121 cm² and 64 cm². If
the median of the first triangle is 15.4 cm, find the corresponding
median of the other triangle. [2]

4) ABCD is a trapezium in which AB is parallel to CD and AB = 2DC.

If the diagonals of the trapezium intersect each other at O, find
the ratio of the areas of triangle AOB and triangle COD. [3]

5] In the given figure, the line segment XY is parallel to side AC of

triangle ABC and it divides the triangle into two parts of equal area.
Prove that AX : BX = (2 - 2 : 2) [3]

6] In the given figure, triangle ABC and triangle DBC are on the
same base BC. If AD intersects BC at 0, prove that : [3]
=
𝑎𝑟 (𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝐴𝐵𝐶 ) 𝐴𝑂
𝑎𝑟 (𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝐷𝐵𝐶) 𝐷𝑂
+
7] D, E and F are respectively the midpoints of AB, BC and CA of triangle
ABC. If the area of triangle ABC is 32 unit2, find the area of triangle
DEF. [3]

8] In the given figure, triangle PQR is right angled at Q and the points S
and T trisect the side QR. Prove that 8 PT2 = 3 PR2 + 5PS2 [4]
9] [ 2 X 4 = 8]
