ACTIVITY DESIGN

Title: Science Month Celebration 2024


Proponents: Science Teachers/Academic Club Officers/SSG/Students
Theme: Siyensa, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at
Panatag na Kinabukasan
Scope: All Levels (Junior & Senior Levels)
Venue: Panikian National High School Covered Court
Date: September 1 – 30, 2024

I. Rationale

September has been declared National Science Month or NSCM under Presidential
Proclamation No.264, s. 2002. The said proclamation authorizes Education institutions
throughout the Philippines to implement plans and activities pertinent to National Science
Club Month. The theme for this year Science Month Celebration was borrowed form DOST –
Caraga which is “Siyensa, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at
Panatag na Kinabukasan”.
The Science Club Members together with the SSG of Panikian National High School
would like to conduct an activity that would enhance the students’ talents and skills as way of
allowing them to be involved in active learning.

II. Objectives

 Celebrate September as the National Science Month under Presidential Proclamation


No.264, s.2002
 Promote a meaningful understanding in Science about current issues
 Showcase students critical thinking skills in performing Science concept
 To continuously empower the youth and cultivate innovation and creativity amid the
changing world

III. Description of Activity

 This activity will be participated of all bonafide students of Panikian National High
School
 Each activity will be performed by grade level
 This activity will be held in accordance to showcase the skills in science of every
student, promote a full understanding in the current events and providing opportunities
to enhance competent skills in science

V. Mechanics
 Poster Making Contest
1.Open to all interested students of PanikianNHS
2.Contestants must have the following materials:
 1pc White cartolina
 Art materials such as oil pastel, crayons, colored pens, charcoal, watercolor,
ballpen, and pencil. (Each contestant must provide their own materials)
 Duration of the contest shall only be 1 hour.
3.The contest will be held in Science Laboratory

Criteria:
Creativity – 20%
Originality – 20%
Concept (Relevance to the theme) – 40%
Over-all Visual Impact – 20%
Total - 100%

 Quiz Bee
1.Open to all interested students of PanikianNHS
2.Participants must answer correctly the Science questions taken from the lessons from
Quarter 1 to IV of each level.

 What Can You Sci? (Essay Writing Contest)


1. The contest is open to all interested students of PanikianNHS.
2. The essay must be original, and not previously published in print or online.
3. English must be the medium and must be 300 to 600 words long.
4. The essay must follow 3 paragraph structure: Introduction, Body and Conclusion
5. The Participants shall be given 1 hour to develop the composition.
6. No printed materials, electronic gadgets, or storage devices shall be utilized
7. The topic of the essay will be given on the day of the contest.

Criteria For Judging:


Content (Relevance and Accuracy) - 30%
Organization of Thought - 30%
Style (word choice and tone) - 20%
Mechanics (spelling and grammar) - 20%
Total - 100%

 Science Jingle Contest


1. There shall only be one team for each grade level (15 to 25 members).
2. Lyrics and melody of the jingle must be original and in Tagalog, English or mix
(Taglish).
3. Lyrics should be relevant to the theme.
4. All entries must come with an overall choreography with complete props and
costumes.
5. Jingle entry must be 2 to 3 minutes maximum only. There shall be a deduction to
overall points every 1-minute exceeding.

Criteria For Judging:


Relevance to the theme - 30%
Musicality - 30%
Choreography - 25%
Overall Impression/Impact - 15%
Total - 100%
 Search for Mr. & Ms. Science and Technology
1. There shall only be one pair for each grade level.
2. Representatives of the same section will compete individually not as pair. They will be
assigned random numbers.
3. Each representative will compete in the following categories:
a. Innovative Attire/Recycled Couture
- Candidates should wear outfit that is 100% recycled.
- It should be their own design.
Design and Fitting - 50%
Poise and Bearing - 50%

b. Presentation/Production Number
Poise and Confidence - 40%
Introduction - 20%
Costume and Over all appearance - 30%
Audience Impact - 10%

c. Advocacy Video
- Every candidate will be given a maximum of 2 minutes to explain their respective
advocacies. Their advocacies must focus on the theme. They will be rated to the
following:
Content and Substance - 60%
Mastery and Proficiency - 20%
Audience Appeal - 20%

d. Candidate’s Official Photo/People’s Choice


- The candidate who will gain the most numbers of shares and reactions will be hailed
as the “People’s Choice Awardee”

e. Best in Uniform
Poise and Confidence - 50%
Over-all Appearance - 40%
Audience Impact - 10%

f. Question and Answer


Wit - 50%
Confidence - 10%
Appropriateness and Relevance - 20%
Clarity - 20%

NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCIENCE MONTH CELEBRATION
2023

Science month is not just a celebration but it is about showcasing the talents
and skills of every student in terms of innovation and discovery. This also enables
students to enjoy science concepts and to engage them on scientific issues. Panikian
National High School celebrates Science Month with the help of Science Club Officers,
Teachers and SSLG Officers. The said event was announced by the SSLG students
through a meeting which includes the presidents of every classroom.
In this regard, Panikian National High School launched the Science Month
Celebration on September 8,2023 and culmination program on September 29,2023.
The activities were conducted are the following:
 Poster Making
 Quiz Bee
 Essay Writing
 Science Jingle
 Search for Mr. & Ms. SciTech 2023
The poster making contest, quiz bee and essay writing contest were conducted
during the launching of Science Month. It was participated by the students from
Grade 7 to 12. Poster making contest was held at Science Laboratory and been
facilitated by Mrs. Ruth V. Pascua. Another activity which tested their knowledge in
different branches of science was the Science Quiz bee. It was held at the covered
court and been facilitated by Ms. Reynafe Grumo. It was also participated by all
grade levels. The next activity was essay writing contest which been facilitated by
Ms. Aprilyn Megallen. The said contest was participated by 3 participants only from
grade 10 to 12.
The highlight of the Science Month Celebration of Panikian National High School
was the Search for Mr. & Ms. SciTech 2023 and Science Jingle Contest that were
conducted during the culmination. The said activities showcased students critical
thinking skills in performing Science concept and cultivate innovation and
creativity.
