REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND FRAMEWORK OF THE STUDY
A. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
According to the Study of Ali, Medhekar and Rattanawiboonsom (2017),
argued that student achievement in a higher education institution can be improved
through several critical factors namely, the quality of the staff, the inclusion of
information technology and appropriate learning strategies. Thus, a number of local
studies have investigated the role and impact of instructors in promoting student
achievement and learning. For example, Bashir, Lockheed, Ninan, and Tan (2018)
asserted that pedagogical practice and instructor knowledge play a critical role in
increasing student learning.
Based on the study of Buchori, Setyosari, Dasna, Degeng, and Sa'dijah (2017),
instructors' strategies and techniques determine students' roles, activities, and
achievements in the learning process and likewise foster students' responsibility for their
learning. Other studies investigated learning strategies that can help students acquire
information and take an active role in the learning process.

According to Alvarez-Bell et al. (2017), effective learning is driven by
instructional practices that promote student en gagement and foster collaboration. He
suggested that teachers create an environment that encourages communication between
students and the teacher. Carstensen et al. (2020) study discovered that active teaching
strategies that encourage student collaboration significantly improve academic
performance.
According to the study of George (2020), it emphasizes the importance of
teaching methods that foster group projects and student participation. Creating a
collaborative learning environment becomes key to motivating students to take an active
role in their educational journey. The social constructivist learning theory places high
value on students' involvement in their learning, aligning perfectly with the instructional
approach adopted by teachers.
According to Hayat et al. (2024), they found out that employing exploration-
based teaching strategies was favorably connected with academic achievement in their
research of SHS accounting students in Nigeria. The thrust of the debate is that teachers
need to use a range of instructional strategies that cater to and sustain the diverse student
needs and learning styles.
According to Zulyadaini (2017), teachers should prioritize the relevance of
teaching materials to students' lives, focusing on materials that can shape learners into
community-builders within the curriculum. Teachers hold a pivotal role in crafting

learning materials tailored to learners' needs. UNESCO highlights the necessity for
teachers to possess diverse learning resources beyond textbooks to enhance student
learning. In the realm of curriculum development, the innovation of materials should
encompass training programs for educators.
According to Garin, Reyes, and Rosals (2017), who found that when
contextualized and localized education was used as a way to teach fundamental statistics,
students' performance improved dramatically since they were receiving training based on
real-world, community-based experiences.
According to Arianto (2018), instructional materials act as a systematic guide for
learners. These materials, whether in the form of traditional aids, comic strips, modules,
e-learning portals, or others, are instrumental in facilitating enhanced learning outcomes
for students.
Based on the study of Obi and Obi's (2019) study on the impact of improvised
instructional materials on academic achievement, the recommendation was made for
teachers to undergo training on improvisation techniques for enhancing teaching and
learning.
According to Ajoc (2019), effective treatment programs and initiatives to strengthen
SPED implementation and inadequacies in the input and process aspects should be
effectively addressed through the development of effective activities and programs to

improve SPED integration in the province of Surigao del Sur. Effective interventions and
solutions should be based on the teachers’ experiences and knowledge since they serve as
the most knowledgeable people in educating disabled students.
B. SYNTHESIS
In general, the given studies are mostly based on the importance of the effectiveness
of teaching strategies significantly impacting student achievement., Different teaching
strategies and effectiveness of teaching play a crucial role in student learning for their
academic performance according to Ali et al. (2017) and Bashir et al on 2018. Thus,
findings highlight for teachers to adopt diverse instructional methods that accommodate
different learning styles and support student engagement. By using varied strategies,
educators can create more effective and inclusive learning environments said by Hayat et
al. (2024) Teachers should prioritize the relevance of teaching materials to enhance
student engagement and community involvement according to Zulyadaini (2017).
The relevance of participative learning that concentrates on students studied by
George (2020) and Hayat et al. (2024), who advocate for collaborative and exploration-
based approaches that cater to diverse learning styles. Employing community-based
examples to teach fundamental statistics improves comprehension and academic
performance according to the study of Garin et al. 2017.

Overall, the synthesis of these studies suggests that the combination of effective teaching
methods, educational resources, and learning approaches substantially has an impact on
students’ academic performance
C. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
This study is based on constructivist learning theory, which highlights the
proactive involvement of learners in the formation of knowledge through experiential
engagement and interaction. The utilization of exploration-based teaching strategies was
positively associated with academic achievement in their study involving senior high.
School accounting students in Nigeria. Their findings underscore the necessity for
educators to implement diverse instructional methodologies that accommodate various
learning styles and abilities. This is consistent with the constructivist theory of Hayat et
al. (2024), which asserts that students acquire knowledge most effectively when they are
actively engaged with the material through exploration and critical thinking. By
integrating strategies such as inquiry-based learning, collaborative activities, and
differentiated instruction, educators can cultivate a more inclusive and effective learning
environment.
This approach is especially crucial for grade 9 learners, as they progress into more
intricate subject matter across multiple disciplines. At this point, students exhibit varied
learning steps, and a uniform approach may not adequately facilitate their academic
development. Approaches such as project-based learning, collaborative discussions, and

the practical application of concepts assist in sustaining engagement and enhancing
comprehension. By addressing these requirements through flexible and student-centered
teaching strategies, educators can significantly improve the academic performance of
grade 9 students, thereby promoting both critical thinking and independent learning.
D. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
In this part of the study, the researchers analyzed and gathered data related to the
variables connected to the problem. Through the distribution of questionnaires, the
researchers will be able to gather information. Data and different feedback of their
respondents to this study, which determines the effects of teaching Strategies on the
Academic Performances of Grade 9 Students. By understanding these relationships, the
study seeks to contribute to more effective teaching strategies.
