Q.36 Maximum Profit : An automobile manufacturer can produce up to 300 cars per day. The
profit made from the sale of these vehicles can be modelled by the function 𝑃(𝑥 ) = 𝑥 2 +
350𝑥 − 6600 where 𝑃(𝑥 ) is the profit in thousand Rupees and 𝑥 is the number of
automobiles made and sold. Answer the following questions based on this model:
(i) When no cars are produce what is a profit/loss?
(ii) What is the break even point ? (Zero profit point is called break even)
(iii) What is the profit/loss if 175 cars are produced ?
Q.37 Your elder brother wants to buy a car and plans to take loan from a bank for his car. He
repays his total loan of Rs 1,18,000 by paying every month starting with the first instalment
of Rs 1000. If he increases the instalment by Rs 100 every month , answer the following:
(i) Find the amount paid by him in 30th instalment.
(ii) If total instalments are 40, then find the amount paid in the last instalment.
(iii) Find the amount paid by him in the 30 instalment.
Q.38 Teacher gives an activity to the students to measure the height of the tree and asks
them who will do this activity. Anjali accepts the challenge she places a mirror on level
ground to determine the height of a tree. She stands at a certain distance so that she
can see the top of the tree reflected from the mirror. Anjali’s eye level is 1.8m above
ground, the distance of Anjali and the tree from the mirror are 1.5m and 2.5m
respectively. Answer the question below.
(i) Name the two similar triangles formed .
(ii) State the criteria of similarity applicable here .
(iii) Find the height of the tree
