LESSON PLAN

School: Subject: ENGLISH


Class: UNIT 7: PLACES TO GO
Periods: 1 LESSON 1 + 2
Teacher: Ha Lesson duration: 90 minutes
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify and name 8 places in town: café, library, museum, playground, shopping
mall, sports centre, swimming pool, cinema.
- Use adverbs of frequency (always, sometimes, never) to describe routines.
- Write sentences using prepositions of time (on, in, at).
II. TEACHING PROCEDURES:
STAGES TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
1/ Warm up - Greeting: “Hello, How are you today?”, guide Ss to say “I’m good,
5 mins fine.”
- Class rules:
+ Be quiet: 1 star
+ Sit nicely: 1 star
+ Listen: 1 star
+ Eyes on teacher: 1 star
+ No Vietnamese: 1 star
- Review words: flip flashcards quickly and ss speka out loud
2/ Lesson 1: 1. Lead in:
Vocabulary - T shows flashcard and ask Ss if they know these places.
( 20 mins) 2. Presentation:
- Use flashcards to introduce: (café, library, museum, playground,
shopping mall, sports centre, swimming pool, cinema).
- Drill pronunciation (chorally and individually). Write words on the
board.
3. Practice:
a. Controlled activities:
Listen, point and repeat:
- Ask students to look at the pictures and words in the class book.
- Play the audio for students to listen, point and repeat.
- T says random words and asks Ss to point to.
b. Guided activities:
Activity 1: Slow reveal: Ask Ss to close their bookss. Show a small part of
the flashcard and let Ss guess. Very slowly reveal the picture, bit by bit and
ask “What’s this?” the first student to guess correctly comes to the front to
choose the next card.
=> Take a short check by asking Ss to look at flashcards and speak out.
Activity 2: Cowboys
- Explain how to play. T and a student make an example.
- Two Ss stand back to back. T says “one”, they take one step. T says
“two”, they take one more step. T says “three”, Ss turn around and say
the partner’s card.
Story time 1. Pre-teach
20 mins Lead-in
- Ask Ss to describe things or actions in the picture as many as possible:
Where are they? Who are they? What are they talking about?
2. Teach
- Have Ss watch the video.
- Play audio, ask students to listen and follow in their books.
- Listen again and ask Ss to underline any new words (T writes on the
board), T models them, drills pronunciation, explain the meaning and
invite Ss to make a sentence or give an example.
- Ask Ss to listen and repeat sentence by sentence.
- Highlight sentences with always/never/sometimes.
- Role play:
+ Divide class into groups, assign roles (Mum, Dad, Holly, Leo, Amy,
Max).
+ Invite students to act the story out (the rest will take note and give
feedback)
3. Post-teach:
Check understanding:
- T prepares some sentences about the story (some are true, some are
false) and shows them on screen. If the sentence is true, Ss show
Thumbs Up, if it is false, Ss show Thumbs Down. T also asks Ss to
correct the sentence.
 Holly wants to go to the library.
 Max wants to go to the museum.
 Who doesn’t like museums?
 Where did the family go on the weekend?
Discussion:
- “Which place do you like best? Why?”

Break Time 8h15 (5 mins)

3/ Lesson 2: 1. Lead-in:
Grammar - Show picture (p.57 playground). Ask: Where do they go on
(35 mins) Saturdays?
2. Presentation + Practice:
2.1. Adverbs of frequency
a. Presentation:
- Draw a timetable
- Write sentences on board:
We always go to the sports centre.
I sometimes go to the library.
She never goes to the shopping mall.
- Highlight meaning of always (100%), sometimes (50%), never (0%).
- Drill pronunciation and intonation.
- Ask Ss to make sentences.
b. Practice:
- Do Ex 3 and check answer.
- Ask Ss to make questions with structure.
- Play game on Bamboozle (Divide the class into 2 teams)

- Write examples on the board. Explain rules:
