Building Material

Note the finish materials (Flooring, wall and ceiling + outside cladding + parking lot etc) used in the various
spaces. Try to evaluate the significance and use of any specific material. Get the material used in the
corridors, toilets and lobby areas. You may include a separate column in the table above for material
specification.
Structural System

 Type of Structural System: Framed Beam-Column, Truss, folded plate, space frame ...)
 Material (RCC / Steel / Composite)
 Dimensions: Span, depth of beam, size of column, spacing of column
 Any structural uniqueness (if any)

Building Services

 Water supply system: (source of water, the location of the reservoir: underground/overhead, the
capacity of the water reservoir) Try to know about the daily water requirement.
 Sanitary system: (how wastewater is discharged: to city sewer or to septic tank, location of septic
tank, pipe system,)
 Electrical system: (wiring system: open / concealed, type of fixtures: traditional [fluorescent lamp,
CFL] / energy efficient [LED]). Does the building have only grid supply of having a backup DG set? Try
to know about the per year energy consumption (monthly break-up will be preferable).
 Air-conditioning system: System of air-conditioning (Individual room to room units / centralized AC),
Total number of air-conditioner units [with TR rating] in large areas like seminar hall, lecture hall
etc...) Try to know about the daily TR requirement/ use in the building.
 Fire Safety: Type of fire safety device/ system used in the building (dry or wet riser/ sprinkler
system). Requirement specific fire control device (if any).
