1.Punishment of a liar
There was a young shepherd boy who take care of a group of sheep near a
forest. His village was not too far away. where he was watching over the sheep.
One day, he was feeling bored and looking for some fun, the boy decided to
play a trick on the villagers.He shouted loudly, Tiger! Tiger! Help me! Please
help me!Hearing his cries, the villagers run to help him. But when they come in,
there was no tiger. however, they found the boy smiling at them. The villagers
are very angry, but they left, realizing he was lying to them.A few days later,
the boy played the same trick again. Tiger! Tiger! Help me! he cried. Once
more, the villagers come to help, but there was no tiger. The boy smiling, and
the villagers walk away, angry and disappointed.Then one day, real tiger came.
It attacked the sheep, and the afraid boy quickly climb a tree. He shouted for
help, Tiger! Tiger! Please help! But this time, the locals believed he was joking
and did not come. The tiger killed a sheep and took it away. The child, afraid
and sad, looked helpless.The boy felt sad for lying and lying to the villagers. He
realized how his joke created problems. From that day, he promised himself
never to lie or fool others again.
2.Robert Bruce
Robert Bruce was a King of Scotland. He fought several times to regain his
country’s freedom. But he was each time defeated. Naturally, he was sad as he
did not win. However, he took shelter in a remote cave. One day Bruce was
lying in the cave. Then he saw a spider’s condition. The spider was trying hard
to reach the ceiling of the cave. But the spider failed again and again to reach
the ceiling of the cave.However, the spider did not give up hope. Bruce saw the
spider’s hard work. He noticed the spider’s climbing to the ceiling after some
unsuccessful attempts. This dauntless spider inspired Robert Bruce to shake off
the darkness of despair. He again gathered an army of strong men. Finally, he
along with his army attacked his enemies. The enemies courted defeat. Thus
Bruce regained his kingdom. It taught us that ‘perseverance is the key to
success’.
3.A friend in need is a friend indeed
Once there were two friends living in the same village. One day two friends
were going through a dense forest. When they reached the middle of the forest,
suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them. Both of them became
frightened. One of the friends knew how to climb up a tree but the other was
unable to do it. The first friend quickly climbed up a tree. He did not think about
the safety of his friend.The other friend became very upset. But he did not lose
heart. He was intelligent. He knew that a bear would not touch any dead body.
So, he made a plan. He lay on the ground just like a dead man. The bear came
and smelt his ear and nose. It thought that he was dead. It left the place without
doing any harm. Seeing his friend got down from the tree. He thought the bear
might tell his friend something important. So he asked his friend what the bear
whispered into his ears.The first friend wanted to give his friend a good lesson.
So, he said to his friend that the bear had whispered to him, “A friend in need is
a friend indeed.”
4. Slow and Steady wins the race
Once upon a time, there lived a hare in a jungle. He was always proud of his
speed. A tortoise also lived there. The hare always annoyed the tortoise for its
slow speed. One day the hare was walking through the jungle. Suddenly he saw
the tortoise. It was going very slowly. The rabbit laughed and said, “Hurry up,
you are very slow! Can’t you walk a little faster like me? The tortoise said
angrily, “Why don’t we have a competition to see who wins?” The rabbit
laughed and said, “Why not? let’s do it.”The next morning, turtles and hare
came to start the race. They fixed a destination and started their race. The hare
was running very faster than the tortoise. He looked back, but there was no sign
of the tortoise. The hare was sure of his victory. So, he sat down under a tree to
rest, but unfortunately, he fell asleep. On the other hand, the tortoise ran slowly
but steadily. In a very short time, it passed the sleeping hare. When the rabbit
woke up, he looked around and was surprised to see that the tortoise was near
the finish line. He ran too fast to catch the tortoise, but it was too late. The
tortoise reached the finish line, looked back at the rabbit, and said with a smile,
“See how the slow but steady wins the race!”
5.The Lion and the mouse
Once a lion was sleeping in a forest. Suddenly a mouse came there. It did not
notice the sleeping lion. It was running about and playing happily. By change it
ran over the face of the lion. It awoke the lion. At this the lion grew very angry
with the silly mouse. The mouse became very much frightened. But he did not
lose heart. He said to the lion, " O king of the jungle, I am very tiny creature. I
made a great mistake, Please forgive me this time. I may be of some help to you
any time. Hearing this lion smiled and let the mouse go. Days, months and years
passed by. One night mouse heard the roar of a lion. The mouse went to the
place from where the sound was coming. Having reached there he saw the lion
trapped in a hunter's net. The net was too strong for the lion to tear. The mouse
gave his identity and requested him not to make sound. Then the mouse began
to cut the rope with its sharp teeth. The lion was freed before dawn. The lion
expressed his gratitude to the mouse. The mouse said in reply, "Even the
smallest creatures can be of great help to the giants."
