My Idea of Fun is launching its first issue with a series of events celebrating the magazine. On December 15th, acclaimed author Will Self will give a reading from his work and lecture about the influence of J.G. Ballard on his writing. Afterward, Self's film Crash will be screened at the afterparty. Future issue launch events will include lectures, exhibitions, readings and screenings centered around themes of film, literature and the arts. Podcasts of talks will be available online for those unable to attend.

My Idea of Fun is a monthly magazine that aims to come to some preliminary understanding of the dark forces shaping our lives. It exists so that you may indulge yourself in the varying depths of human behaviour documented by literary heroes and exhibitionists alike. Not to be confused as an exercise in persuasion, simply a catalogue of events and people arond the world intended to educate and stimulate. Were holding a series of events celebrating the first six issues of our new magazine and we want you to be a part of it. Hosted by the Tate Modern, each issue launch will be have a special guest lecturer who you will have the opportunity to meet and greet at the after party. Smother yourself in film, literature and music and join us on our journey; whats your idea of fun?

ISSUE 00 LAUNCH - WHATS ON Here at MIOF we are excited for the first ever magazine launch party, as we will be joined by special guest and literary hero Will Self , who will be providing an insight into some of the darker themes within his work and reading excerpts from My Idea of Fun. Not only will we be able to witness the text how it was intended by the writer himself, we will also learn some of the influences throughout his literary career; most noteably J.G. Ballard who Self regards as a personal hero. And if that wasnt enough we will be screening Crash at the afterparty. 7-8PM Will Self Book Reading 8-10PM Will Self Lecture on Ballard 10-11PM Crash Screening @ Afterparty
