To: Andrew Thompson CEO of Creative Computer Solutions Re: Top five IT systems for the company
In order for CCS to thrive and become a power house within the world of business the company will want to use five of the IT systems which have been designed to help small companies become more streamlined and allows for both managers and upper management to make better educated decisions about the company. The first IT system which is vital to any company is the ESS or Executive Support System which is designed to help senior management make better strategic decisions. This IT system gathers, analyses as well as summarizes the key internal as well as external information used within the business. Think of this IT system as an aircraft cockpit- with the instrument panel displaying the status of every key business activities. The second IT system that the company could benefit from is the MIS system. MIS stands for Management Information Systems which are concerned mainly with the internal sources of information. This IT system is able to take data from the transaction processing systems and is able to summarize it into a series of reports for management. This IT system is usually used by middle management as well as the operational supervisors. The third IT system which the company should invest in is the DSS which is the Decision Support Systems. These systems are designed to help all of management make decisions when the outcomes of those decisions are uncertain. The DDS tools as well as the techniques to help gather relevant data and analyses which options and alternatives. This systems for the most part utilizes complex databases and spreadsheets to bring to live a what if models.
The fourth IT system the company could use is the KMS system which stands for Knowledge Management System. This system is created so that the company and its employees can better create and share information. This would be helpful as this company creates knowledge and expertise, which is able to be shared among other people within the organization which could be used to create further commercial opportunities. KMS are mainly built around systems which allow efficient categorization and distribution of knowledge. The fifth and final system can be combined as two of them might be useful. These systems are the Transaction Processing Systems and the Office Automation Systems. With the first one is as the name implies, the TPS processes routine transactions efficiently and accurately. This system would be utilized by the field techs as well as the office employees who might take an order over the phone for service. The last system would be the Office Automation System also known as the OAS is used to improve the productivity of the office employees who might have a need to process data and information. For an example we will use Windows XP. These five systems are important to any small business that is expanding and is looking to help the organization become more streamline as well as make better educated decisions about the company. If you have any concerns about the systems mentioned within this email please feel free to contact me.
