Hardware
The
term hardware (computer architecture) is
used to identify the physical parts of a
computer, such as all the devices, peripheral
equipments and the computers internal parts.
Another definition of Hardware is: Physical
parts corresponding to the logical and
analogical circuits inside the computer; the
monitor internal parts, the printer, Keyboard,
CPU, etc.
The computer has a large number of devices
connected to it, such as screen, keyboard,
disk, drive, CD Rom drive, Cd writer (CD
burner) and the communication ports (serial
port and parallel ports).

The term software is used to describe the
different programs (instructions and procedures)
used in a computer system, which direct the
operation and function of a computer. The
Software is stored in the computer memory.
Classification of Software
-According to their functions, Software can be
classified in:
Translation Software
General Use Software
Application Software
System Software
Multi-use Software
Vertical Software
Translation
Software
This
Software is used to create other
Software.
General Use
Software
This
Software offers the structure for a
large number of enterprise applications,
scientific applications, and personal
applications.
Application
Software
They
are programs used to solve several
types of problems.
System Software
The
programs that direct the computer
basic functions integrate it.
Multi-Use
Software
These
are integrated packages of
programs. These programs have several
applications designed to work together
(word processors, data base, electronic
sheets, graphics and
telecommunication).
Vertical
Software
This
type of software is designed for a
particular company or industry.
Element
Integration
The
hardware cannot work by itself. It
needs the software, which is the set of
instructions that make it work properly.
The software main function is to permit
users interacts with the computer
devices.
Once the computer hardware is
installed, we can configure the software
so both work together in order to get
the users purposes.
Hardware
Components
- The Hardware Components can
be classified in:
Input
Devices
Output Devices
Storage Devices
Internal Devices
Input Devices
- These devices are used to introduce data,
instructions and programs in the CPU.
Among the Input Devices we can
mention:
The Keyboard
The Mouse
The Scanner
The Optical Pencil
The Microphone
Output
Devices
-These devices are used to retrieve data and
information from the computer memory or
storage devices.
Among the Output Devices we can mention:
The Monitor
The Speakers
The Printer
Storage
Devices
These devices are used to storage data and
information in the computer.
Among these Storage Devices we can
mention:
The Hard Disk
The Floppy Disk
The CD Rom
The Magnetic Tape
Internal
Devices

Reviewing the
Basics:
Hardware
refers to the physical pots of
the computers.
Software refers to the set of the
program instructions that make the
computer work.
The Hardware cannot work without the
software.
The computer has a large number of
devices connected to it.
