Definition
• Definition: Occupational health and safety is concerned
with fostering the safety, health and welfare of people
engaged in work or employment.
• Meaning: To promote health and well being of people
employed in a work environment against Occupational
diseases. To promote the safety at work place for
employees.
• The laws and regulations are enforced to prevent
workplace illnesses, accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
ACCIDENT
Any un planned event that interferes with ordinarily
progressed activity.
All accidents do not necessary cause personnel injuries.
HAZARD
Any condition that may result in the occurrence
or contribution to the severity of an accident
RISK
Is a statistical concept and expresses the probability of
potential of substances or condition to cause harm.
