Introduction

A Maryland bridge is a type of dental bridge used to replace missing teeth, typically in the
front of the mouth. It is a conservative alternative to traditional bridges and involves less
removal of tooth structure.

A Maryland bridge is often used when a quick, conservative, and cost-effective solution is
desired for a missing tooth, especially for younger patients or those seeking an interim
restoration.

Discussion

• A Maryland bridge provides an optimal solution to address her primary concerns of poor aesthetics
and speech difficulties due to the missing lower central incisors.

• The minimal tooth preparation involved and the ability to match the bridge to the surrounding teeth
make this a conservative and aesthetically pleasing option. However, attention must be given to
improving her oral hygiene before and after the procedure to ensure the longevity of the restoration.

• Periodic follow-ups and oral care will be essential to avoid complications like debonding or decay in
the abutment teeth.
