• There is:
Se usa con sustantivos contables en singular o con
sustantivos incontables.
There is water in the glass.
• There are:
Se usa con sustantivos contables en plural.
There are three candies on the table.
Los cuantificadores indican cantidades o
cantidad de cosas.
• Countable nouns
There is an apple on the tree
There are apples on the tree.
• Uncountable nouns
There is sand on the beach
There are sounds (x) on the beach (no se le pone s porque no
es contable la arena).
SOME
•Significa
una gran cantidad o mucho en cantidad.
Usado para oraciones afirmativas con sustantivos
contables e incontables.
I need some shoes.
I drank some water.
•En preguntas, solo cuando se hace una oferta o
solicitud.
Would you like some water?
Can I borrow some money?
ANY
• Usado para oraciones negativas con sustantivos contables e
incontables. (a veces no tiene traducción en español)
I don´t have any shoes (No tengo zapatos)
I don´t need any water. (No necesito agua)
• Usado en preguntas con sustantivos contables e incontables.
Do you hanve any pets? (¿Tienes mascotas?)
Do you have any money? (¿Tienes (algo de) dinero?)
MUCH
•Usado para sustantivos incontables en
oraciones y preguntas.
1.How much ice cream do you want?
2.You don´t have much time before the
bus leaves.
3.There is too much noise in this class.
MANY
•Usado para cantidades grandes, con
sustantivos contables en preguntas y
oraciones negativas:
How many cookies do you want?
There aren´t many cars on the highway today.
Many flowers perished in the storm
There are too many people stuffed in his car.
A FEW (+) / FEW (-)
• Usado para plural contable, significa una pequeña cantidad.
1. Few students walk to school in the country.
2. A few students walk to school in the country.
3. Few people know his real intentions.
4. They had few good books.
There were fewer tomatoes in the basket than we had hoped
(había menos tomates en la canasta de lo que habíamos
esperado)
A LOT OF(+) / LOTS OF (-)
•Paraincontable y contable en plural.

A LITTLE (+) / LITTLE (-)
•Incontable y significa un poco o pequeña
cantidad.
1.We had a little time to prepare for the test.
2.I just want a little salt on my fries.
