Objectives:
Monitor water levels: Measure the water level in a tank or
container at any given time
Control water pumps: Automatically turn on or off water pumps
based on water levels.
Sound alarms: Alert users when water levels reach set
thresholds
Prevent overflow: Prevent water tanks from overflowing by
automatically turning off pumps when water levels reach a
certain level
Conserve water: Prevent water waste by automatically refilling
Components required:
1.Arduino Uno
2. Breadboard
3. 3 LLD (red, green, Blue)
4. Buzzer (x1)
5. Jumper wires
6. Water level Sensor.
Steps are followed to connect:
Step-1: Assemble LED & Buzzer on Breadboard
We use LED of 3 different colors red, Blue, green. RED led & Buzzer indicates extremely
low level of water. Blue led indicates half water level and GREEN led indicates full water
level. Connect the cathode of each led to power rail (blue rail) on breadboard which would
be the ground supply.
Step-II: Make Connections with Arduino and LEDMake connections for LED with digital
pins on arduino as follows:
RED => Digital pin 4
Blue => Digital pin 3
GREEN => Digital pin 2
Buzzer => Digital pin 5
Step-III: Connect the Water Sensor with Arduino
Connect the water level sensor to arduino as follows:
Water Sensor pins => Arduino pins
- => GND
+=> 5V
S => A0
Step-IV: Upload the Program on the ArduinoUpload the sketch to your Arduino
uno using the Arduino IDE.
Working Principle:
There are three steps:
1. When water rank is empty or there is very less water in the tank, RFD led will start
glowing. When water falls into the tank and the water level starts increasing at that
time. RED led stops glowing. Similarly, when the water level in the tonk reaches
half level, yellow led starts blinking.
2. When water level in the tank reaches up to fitil level. GREFN led starts blinking and
Ruzzer starts buzzing. This indicates that the water tank is full and the motor
connected to water tank should be turned OFT
3. Water level sensor gives value into proportional to the water level resistive strip.
Means increase in water level conductivity increuses the strip. Thus, resistance
decreuses.
4. Water level sensor values:
at low tank 100-200
Mid tank-up to 450
full tank-600
