Heading into summer 2025, few could have imagined that F1: The Movie would drive some of Hollywood’s biggest tentpoles off the road, breaking the Formula One movie curse. Over the Aug. 1-3 weekend — its sixth in release — the movie surpassed the $540.4 million earned by World War Z to become the top-grossing film of Brad Pitt’s career in a leading role with more than $546 million in global ticket sales.

Netflix moved up to third place in Nielsen’s rankings of TV distributors in June, its highest place to date. The streamer accounted for 8.3 percent of all TV use in the United States, behind YouTube (12.8 percent) — which led the way for a fifth consecutive month — and Disney (10 percent).
