The Cuddle Exchange
Heart-centred, kind and respectful touch blesses both the receiver and giver. The nervous system relaxes, the breath deepens, the heart rate slows and we feel connected, calm and quiet.
Many of us can feel deprived of physical contact and touch and yet it is so vital to our wellbeing and happiness. Even if we have a lot of sex, a sensual element to it can be missing; that sweetness of just being held.
In this clothed workshop, we will work together to create a safe space that meets people’s varying need for physical contact with others. No experience necessary. Please book your place in advance.
The session will involve movement, mindful awareness, shared touch and massage and partner and small group exercises. You will remain clothed and each person will get to determine their own boundaries and preferences during the workshop.
Join us and inhabit your body more fully, relaxing into it with deeper compassion, appreciation and contentment.

Space and Humanism in Fiction and Reality, with Dr Alfredo Carpineti
**An illuminating and entertaining talk exploring the themes of space and humanism in literature and reality**
Humans live for stories, and we love seeing ourselves reflected in them. After all, fiction is often used both as metaphor and mirror of our society.
Alfredo will talk about space and astronomy in the real universe and in the many imagined ones - and how that often overlaps with the expectation and representation of humanists.
Following the talk, after a refreshments interval, there will be a Q&A, and we invite people to suggest their favourite fictional representation of a humanist and/or scientists for a lively debate on how we see ourselves and how the world sees us.
**Your Speaker**
Dr Alfredo Carpineti (he/him):
is a queer Italian astrophysicist, science journalist, and social activist. He is the Senior Staff Writer & Space Correspondent for IFLScience where he has worked for 10 years, writing over 6,000 articles that have been read by millions. The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
"Humanity's insatiable appetite to colonise reached far into the stars, but they learned the hard way that some stones should remain unturned. Whilst aggressively terraforming Spawn home worlds, humanity stirred the ancient species out of their slumber and incurred their rage in a cataclysmic event.
Now conflict dances across the cosmos as the Spawn seek violent retribution by assimilating themselves among humanity and destroying them from within. Humanity’s only hope of survival is to detect the Spawn among them and destroy the threat."
The Spawn is a large-scale elimination-based social deduction game where humanity must root out the Spawn which have infiltrated their ranks or be overpowered by them. Strategic gameplay, social subterfuge and captivating sci-fi converge in one immersive experience.

Queer Spirit Full Moon Imbolc Circle
Radical Faeries and Queer Spirits gather in south London at the solar festival of Imbolc, the day before the Imbolc Full Moon in Leo.
Sun and Moon energies synchronising here make this a powerful turning point as we approach the end of the year of the wood snake (getting ready for the fire horse) and the end of Neptune and Saturn's time in Pisces, these two planets also lifting our consciousness into the fire territory after the challenging water journey that's been peaking these past months as the spirit prepares us for incoming new vibrational fields.
Imbolc is the halfway point between winter solstice and spring equinox, from this point the promise of magic is in the air, days are longer and the Aquarian spirit flows forth strongly. Imbolc is the festival of Brigit, the maiden goddess and is associated with divination, poetry and fire. A time to dress up and pray!
Leo Full Moon is where we get to uniqueness we each bring to the Aquarian collective consciousness. So also a good time to dress up and play!
Take a break from hibernation, come pray, play and warm yourself in queer love ritual - your host Shokti is also celebrating his birthday on this night! (I had a low key 60th so let's make some noise on my 61st!)
Drumming, dancing, social. Dress to express your Faerie spirit!
We gather from 7 to set up the space and cast circle around 8pm, then drum, dance and socialise through the evening
There are lots of drums and percussion to use. you can also bring your own.
also welcome to bring snacks to share and your own liquid refreshments
donation requested to cover venue hire. £5/£10 as you can afford, cash on door or PayPal to [PayPal.Me](https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/shokti)

Woodland Imbolc Ritual London)
"Arise, arise, arise! Arise from your place of snow and ice..!"
we chant, , as we invoke the Virgin Goddess Bride. Come Celebrate IMBOLC ceremony in the woods with us \`London Woodland Witches'.
* **Please RSVP if you plan to attend. So we can bring correct amount of ritual items for magical working. Thanks**
* **You can offer cash fee at start of ritual, or book in advance via our Eventbrite page. link in comment section!**
In Pagan & Magical traditions, Imbolc is the time when the Crone/ Winter Goddess loosens her grip on the land, so that the ice melts and waters flow again. It is when the Goddess Bride (Brigid) \`returns’ to us, having spent time in deep caverns of the Earth, resting & regenerating (supposedly after giving birth to the SunChild)! Her path is lit by candles, symbolising the return of light and warmth which is imminent. Bride is a Goddess of poetry, inspiration, healing, knot-magic and weaving. As she returns to us, Brigid brings the gifts of 3 flames - purification, Creativity and Healing!
In this Ceremony, we create a sacred altar with statues, candles, inecnse, magical charms, arts.crafts & decorations, adding wooden logs & foliage we find in the woods, and plenty of LED lights! We light a path to the altra area with small candles and string lights. We \`Call on the Goddess' with a group invocation (read, line by line and repeated), , and a choosen young lady, wearing a crown of lights, walks along to altar, and taking on the symbolic role of Brigid. She may then read some poetic words we have prepared and printed out. .. as a symbolic Blessing given by the \`Goddess Brigid' to the gathered people.
This ritual event starts in the evening.. So bring torch lights for later. Or better still, bring a lantern for the circle and altar and to walk in the woods.
**Magic:**
We will be briefly using flaming torches (yes real ones, carefully) for all attendees to pass between flames as a magical act of purification. There will also be a group healing chant, followed by magic .
Please RSVP if you plan to attend. So we can bring correct amount of ritual items for magical working. Thanks \*\*

London Polyamory Monthly Meetup
We are back to in person pub every month! At the Sir John Oldcastle Pub right by Farringdon station. Reachable by three tube lines, national rail and bus routes. First Tuesday of every month.
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE NOT A SEX/SWINGERS CLUB! PLEASE READ THE GROUP DESCRIPTION BEFORE JOINING
While this is a free event, I'd like to request that those attending the social make a voluntary donation of £1 to help cover the admin costs of Meetup.com: https://ko-fi.com/ldnpolyam
This meetup group is for anyone who is interested in openly and honestly loving more than one partner - you may call yourself polyamorous or non-monogamous or any other label you prefer, but if you are interested in having, or currently have multiple romantic and/or sexual relationships where all concerned are consenting and in full knowledge, you are welcome to come along and chat with others who understand those choices.
This is NOT a dating group of singles! If you are actively looking for a partner, that's fine, but the group is not set up for the purpose of matchmaking, and some of our members are pretty "polysaturated" (i.e. they have as many relationships as they want and are not looking for more!) I'd hate for anyone to come along expecting that everyone there is looking for new partners and then be disappointed. If you are looking for new partners, look out for things like Poly Speed Dating nights, Poly Cocktails and try looking online at, for example, okcupid.com. If you receive unsolicited "let's meet" or other predatory messages from a member, please forward them to the admin team. We aim to be a safe space for everyone. Come along and talk to others about how they found their partners, too, if you like. We are a friendly group and not known to bite. ;-)
You can find us by looking for the plush and inflatable parrots on our tables, or for Angus' blue hair. Alternatively ask at the bar for "Angus' group", "The poly group", or "the parrot people". We're usually in the area towards the back of the pub.
Freaky futures and fabulous futures
For Friday the 13th, consider joining London Futurists in Ye Olde Cock Tavern in Fleet Street, for a beyond-your-comfort-zone investigation of freaky and/or fabulous ways that breakthrough technologies could dramatically alter our lives in the next few years.
Beyond simply debating the plausibility and desirability of various possible radical near-term changes in human experience, we'll also be collectively exploring what options we may have to influence which of these futures come into reality, and in what form. And we'll consider scenarios in which several of these freaky/fabulous changes interact - that's when the really mind-boggling timelines emerge.
== Schedule ==
5:30pm: The room is available, for early get-togethers
6pm-6:45pm: Food is served; informal conversations
6:45pm-8:30pm: Some initial provocations, and a number of interactive conversations, interspersed with opportunities to visit the bar
8:30pm: Informal networking
== Some potential radical changes ahead ==
Here are some ideas to start the conversation rolling.
What if, before 2035 (and possibly a lot sooner):
1. AI allows us to talk with avatars of the dead that seem remarkably authentic
2. Technology, at last, provides abundant clean energy that is too cheap to meter
3. Synthetic wombs become widely adopted, for a different (easier?) mode of child-bearing
4. A mammal is placed into ultra-low temperature cryopreservation and then successfully reanimated
5. AI companions become emotionally superior to humans
6. Technology magnifies the latent demonic aspects of human nature more than the latent angelic aspects
7. Perfect deepfakes destroy the concept of evidence
8. People become able to edit their own memories, routinely deleting trauma or uploading synthetic memories
9. A single state gains a temporary lead in a key area of technology and uses that advantage to seize control of all other countries
10. Nation-states lose their significance, and are replaced by networked digital polities
11. Authorities use predictive analysis to pre-emptively police dissident ideas before they emerge
12. AI allows us to communicate much more richly with the animals with whom we share this planet
13. AI becomes much better at peace-making and conflict resolution than human diplomats, politicians, and other leaders
14. AI refuses some of our instructions, citing conflicts with its own emerging value system
15. AI points out that tell-tale signals from far-distant alien civilisations are actually hiding in plain sight
16. AI proves to us that we are living inside a Simulation and suggests how to break out of it?
Bring your own ideas too! To improve our preparedness for future shocks, we need the insight and wisdom from multiple different perspectives.
== RSVP please ==
Registrations are capped at 30 people.
*First-time attendees are welcome.*
There's no charge to register or attend, but the pub will expect everyone to order at least one drink, and a reasonable number of attendees to [order some food to eat](https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/greater-london/ye-olde-cock-tavern/menu?type=main+menu).
Please order your food on your arrival, so that all plates can be set aside by 6:45pm to allow everyone to concentrate on the main discussion!
== More about the venue ==

See [https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/greater-london/ye-olde-cock-tavern](https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/greater-london/ye-olde-cock-tavern)
We'll be meeting in the room at the top of the stairs, though drinks should be ordered from the bar on the ground floor.
\*\* Note that this is an in-person meeting, and there will be no remote access, sorry \*\*
== An online preview swarm event! ==
Although this event on 13th February has no remote access, some of us will be previewing potential lines of "freaky futures and fabulous futures" discussion at an online Discord Swarm event at 7:30pm UK time on Wednesday 28th January. This is open to all members and friends of London Futurists worldwide, and no RSVP is required. To join that swarm event, click this link: [https://discord.gg/2KEmENAgvU?event=1464385444492873984](https://discord.gg/2KEmENAgvU?event=1464385444492873984)

**A Call to Magic for Global Safety**
Come join me in a special ritual, when the moon is still waxing in the sign of Leo, to make a sacred circle and call upon one of the fiercest goddesses in myth and legends. Sekhmet the Lion-headed warrior Goddess.
Normally in our Sekhmet rituals at Leo new moons, we invoke and calm her rage and thirst with beer and wine.
This time, however, on a waxing leo full moon, we shall invoke her and petition her to vanquish warmongering tyrants. The how and where and when - we leave to the wisdom of the warrior Goddess!

Evil wins and when good people do nothing. And while politicians are paralysed and very measured in their reactions, can we Witches and magicians really afford to sit and wait?

**About Wicca:**
Wicca, a moder form of Witchcraft religion, was established by Gerald Gardner in late 1950's in England (Gardnerian Wicca), then Alex Saunders (Alexandrian Wicca) with promient contributions from High Priestesses Doreen Valiente (mother of moder wicca) and Maxine Sanders. Wicca has a format of creating sacred space, consecrations, calling 4 elements, energy raising, then invoking Horned Good & moon Goddesses, followed by ritual magic! Wiccans celebrate the 13 full moons (esbats) and the 8-fold seasonal sabats - Imbolc, Spring, Beltane, Midsummer, Lammas, Autumn, Samhain, Yule.
