Person: Konno Taiki

Konno Taiki is an animator. He was born in Tokyo and raised in Yamagata Prefecture. He attended the Fine Arts Department of Seian Zoukei Daigaku where he studied nihonga and honed his anatomy and drawing skills under illustrator and associate professor Oda Takashi.

Konno graduated from university in 2012 and joined Shaft the same year. Having been a fan of Bakemonogatari when he was a student, he had hopes of participating in the series' theatrical film project, Kizumonogatari, which had been announced the previous year. Konno made a name for himself soon after joining the company, utilizing the skills he'd gained at art school to create impressive Japanese-style picture scrolls for Nekomonogatari (Kuro): Tsubasa Family and Monogatari Series: Second Season before he had even been promoted the post of key animator and quickly distinguishing himself as a young artist worth paying attention to.

Konno later got his wish and ended up participating in the Kizumonogatari trilogy which released in 2016/2017. After contributing to a few more projects at Shaft, he went freelance in 2017 and has since been active as a member of Team Yamahitsuji lead by Kawano Tatsurou.

Lately, Konno has also attracted attention for creating ending animations for several series, including but not limited to En'en no Shouboutai, Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers, and Undead Unluck. These endings are usually made almost entirely by Konno himself and place an emphasis on detailed illustrations and methods of technical expression not typically found in commercial Japanese animation.
