In the aftermath of the War of Unification, all the nations of the continent of Eastald are forcefully united under a single ruler. During the war, special soldiers were implanted with fairy organs, allowing them to summon powerful fairies to fight under their command. These soldiers were dubbed "fairy soldiers" and used by all sides. However, nine years after the end of the war, conflict still remains as rogue fairy soldiers and criminals take advantage of the postwar instability. To combat this threat, the government agency Dorothea is formed with the sole purpose of combatting illegal fairy users.

One of Dorothea's newest recruits, Marlya Noel, teams up with veteran fairy soldier and Dorothea operative Free Underbar in hopes of tracking down her long lost childhood friend Veronica Thorn, who is now an illegal fairy soldier working for an unknown organization looking to recover an artefact dubbed the "Black Fairy Tome".

The story lacks focus and there's so much survivor's guilt, so much of it just everywhere.

It's also annoying how long the female protagonist stays basically useless, in combat and otherwise.

On the upside: Interesting premise and world, competent direction, fluid animation, beautifully detailed artwork, ok CGI and a great soundtrack.

An ok watch for genre fans.

One of the better series I have seen lately, it has a terrible rating most likely because the right audience for this series is not the one that watched it. See more in the comments section.

Fairy Gone had an interesting plot of post war where select soldiers were able to summon powerful creatures. Initially I was worried about Marlya (main female lead) being annoying as she ignored consequences and seemed dizzy, but luckily evolves with the series. While the plot seemed interesting, S1 focuses on political scheming. This series had the ingredients to be a cool dark fantasy show, instead was an average S1... although, there are many unanswered questions needing to be concluded in S2.
