Guess what, ? has a "Copy Link" in the file context menu. And guess what? They also open a dialog, like with whom to share, for editing or for viewing, but this dialog is fully accessible. Webbish, yes (I would prefer a native Windows API one), but fully accessible.
And guess what even more? also has "Copy Link" in their context menu. Aren't they secure enough? I don't know. But they are *convenient*. And *accessible*.
UPD. this post was inspired by my struggles with sharing Nextcloud links and by this ongoing discussion. TL;DR: The option was there, it worked like a charm, but then it was removed because of "security".

A Developer Accidentally Found in Data. Him For It

Google suspended a mobile app developer’s accts after he uploaded AI data to his . Unbeknownst to him, the widely used dataset, which is cited in a number of academic papers & distributed via an file sharing site, contained child material. I've come to the conclusion that, while I am still using 11 out of inertia, it's time to contemplate an exit plan towards . The switch won't be any time soon (I have too much other stuff on my plate for the foreseeable future), but I do want to avoid paying further license fees to .

      Major areas of concern:

      - My library. I am by no means a heavy gamer, but I want to check if the major games I enjoy are known to work on Linux.
      - Migrating away from towards is going to be a major chore, but it's something I can start in advance.
      - I am a very heavy user of Notepad++ for my typesetting, so I need a replacement whose user experience comes close (and no, neither vim nor emacs count).

As for what distribution to choose... I dunno. Lots of people at my place of work use , so maybe that would be a good idea?

I've had my account since 2004 back when it was invite only. As per their suggestion, I never worried about deleting or managing stuff.

Until now. They zoinked my free tb of storage and I'm not paying them to store trash. So I've spent the past few days removing everything from photos (never really used it) and drive. Plus emails w/ attachments >5 megs. Still was way over the now 15 gig limit.

So I deleted all emails before 2017. That seems to have done the trick. Yeesh.

          So is officially

Uploading pics from its own ecosystem takes an undetermined amount of time... You may get the photos at some stage.

To share a Libre Office doc you would need a sharing platform. LibreOffice itself is pure local. So you could still use for that (that's why I said 'for a start'). To keep it out of hands, look for alternatives: put it on your own website, or use an open source sharing platform like , or start a project on .

But there will be much more options, search for 'open source filesharing' and you'll find plenty of options.

At some point Google Drive started preventing the context menu from appearing when you right-click something. I installed a browser extension that re-enabled this function. The modern web is quite tiresome.
