Yes! Yes yes yes, Hallelujah! #Slack added the Copy Message option by my request to the context menu. Now you blindies don't need to turn off and on your virtual cursor, browse/focus mode or whatever, you just press Ctrl+C or go to the context menu and select Copy Message! 🕺🏻

Stuff like this is so icky to me. Who is "so glad" I'm back? Slackbot? Not possible. Does this make me feel valued or thought about? Not in the slightest.
If you receive a #Slack message from me that says "Happy New Year!" it is because I typed 16 whole-ass letters and hit enter to send it to you. Why would I outsource that?
And if I receive a low-effort, one-click "Happy New Year!" from a colleague do I feel flattered? Like they were thinking of me? No.
I just can't figure out who gets positive vibes from this, so much so that they paid developers to build it.
One of my favorite "security challenges" is the "verify your email" one. By this point my email has been verified so many times it should have top secret clearance.
New #screenReader verbosity settings for messages are now widely available in #Slack, under the #accessibility category of preferences. You can now control which parts of messages are spoken and in what order.
As part of this change, you'll also find that recent replies in threads now have relative timestamps (e.g. "just now" or "2 minutes ago") instead of absolute ones. This update brings the screen reader experience in line with the visual interface, with absolute timestamps still being used outside of threads.
If you have suggestions or run into problems, please use the /feedback command and mention that you use a screen reader. Alternatively I'm also happy to pass along any issues if I can reproduce them.
@PinoBatch There are few things that make me quit a job.
Hudson Rock reports that an infostealer infection led to unauthorized access to Nikkei’s Slack workspace, affecting over 17K employees and partners.
The malware, originating from a Japanese endpoint, captured valid credentials and allowed attackers to browse internal chats and metadata.
No source data leaked - but the case reinforces how endpoint infections remain the root cause of major collaboration breaches.

@srol personally I hate ALL the shitty messengers, and to top it all off I literally had an employer that expected me besides #Sysadmin duties to be available on #Telegram, #Signal, #Discord, #Slack, #GoogleMeet m, #eMail and #Phone without even providing me a SIM with phone number, Smartphone or just 2nd screen and adequate system to shove all that garbage onto.
We use Slack at work for comms and Zoom for meetings. I absolutely detest Slack “huddles”. The huddle notification is loud, obnoxious, and distracting. At least someone posting a zoom link in Slack is less distracting and I can choose when to join the call. #grumpy #IHateHuddles #slack
what if these messengers shut off European traffic for two days on October 13 and 14th? #ChatControl
#Telegram
#FacebookMessenger
#iMessage
#Discord
#Zoom
#MicrosoftTeams
#Threema
#Viber
#Slack
#WhatsApp

One Open-source Project Daily themer takes a set of colors and outputs themes for your apps (editors, terminals, wallpapers, and more).
Are there more cases like this with #Slack? We have a 25k€/year plan and non-profit status and if this is systematic then I would initiate a #Mattermost installation _now_.
On a side note: Are self-hosted Mattermost instances free of license charges or do they still cost money?
“Essentially, #Salesforce (a $230 billion company) is strong-arming a small nonprofit for teens, by providing less than a week to pony up a pretty massive sum of money, or risk cutting off all our communications. That’s absurd.”

“This experience has taught us that owning your data is incredibly important, and if you’re a small business especially, then I’d advise you move away too”
