This release resolves multiple bugs relating to use of crds in s3 mode identified during romancal pipeline tests. These changes allow a user to set CRDS s3 environment variables as usual (see scripts/crds_s3_set), then run the romancal pipeline - regardless of whether or not any local crds cache folder exists yet. The pipeline makes the necessary calls to CRDS to get what it needs, and CRDS quietly creates all necessary cache folders, downloads mappings from s3 based on CRDS_CONTEXT (defaults to "latest" if not set), then uses the local mappings to calculate best references locally and download them from s3 at runtime.

Bug fixes and improvements to the crds_s3_get script, env auto-setter script crds_s3_set:

• After setting the CRDS_PATH environment variable, users can simply run, e.g. source crds_s3_set roman $CRDS_PATH to set the requisite environment variables needed for s3 calls to CRDS.
• It is now possible to pass in just the filename instead of the full s3 URI
• The "destination" arg is now an optional arg, defaulting to the value of CRDS_PATH. Depending on the file type and cache directory structure, the file will be downloaded to the appropriate location within the local cache. Custom absolute paths can still be used (though not recommended), e.g. crds_s3_get myfile abs/custom/path/
