I think the most pressing and fundamental problem of the day is that people lack a practically effective means of sorting out questions of fact in the larger world. We can hardly begin to discuss ways of addressing reality if we can't agree what reality even is, after all.
The institutions that have served this role in the past have dropped the ball, so the next best solution is talking to each other, particularly to those who disagree, to sort out conflicting claims.
Unfortunately, far too many actively oppose this, leaving all opposing claims untested. It's very regressive.
So that's my hobby, striving to understanding the arguments of all sides at least because it's interesting to see how mythologies are formed but also because maybe through that process we can all have our beliefs tested.
But if nothing else, social media platforms like this are chances to vent frustrations that on so many issues both sides are obviously wrong ;)

I enjoy things around information theory (and data compression), complexity theory (and cryptography), read hard scifi, currently work on weird ML (we'll see how it goes), am somewhat literal minded and have approximate knowledge of random things. I like when statements have truth values, and when things can be described simply (which is not exactly the same as shortly) and yet have interesting properties.
I live in the largest city of Switzerland (and yet have cow and sheep pastures and a swimmable lake within a few hundred meters of my place :)). I speak Polish, English, German, and can understand simple Swiss German and French.
If in doubt, please err on the side of being direct with me. I very much appreciate when people tell me that I'm being inaccurate. I think that satisfying people's curiosity is the most important thing I could be doing (and usually enjoy doing it). I am normally terse in my writing and would appreciate requests to verbosify.

A lot to say but I believe mostly "we can solve most of it"... IF ONLY we start and that is by talking! / replying! Getting higher in our own personal understanding and more together is thought to be 'for the way'.
It's our human condition and position in life to suffer alone or together and we cannot be human and then expect not depend on others. That would be to deny our humanity.
Agree? But... Nobody wants to do the homework it seems, and this just feeds ignorance and business (buy and sell of people and things while not working on understanding / bettering human communication ). So unless. you to people's posts or someone else's stuff it's going to get worse (in real life or online).

TRUMP - If people spent a % of time talking to normal people instead of Trump hashtags and other hating spaces then we would work on solving things a lot sooner rather than just hating + spinning their shit al day and then saynig "I don't have time / I'm too busy" for normal community / social stuff..

Intelligence for me now is measured now by those who can work together and communicate / chat versus those much less. Those that can help people individually develop and grow like me. Else we fail everyone. Ironically bad people do this better than the good, so we almost just have to copy them and self-check we're not bad along the way.
If not using others mutually then we are leaving them to the Capitalist system to eat up which is a LOSE:LOSE:LOSE (ME:YOU:EVERYONE).
RIGHT NOW... Helping Others using Fediverse could be MUCH easier if people were a bit more DEDICATED.
I'm defined today by my dreams. I try do RIGHT NOW or tomorrow for the children / adults as imagining it were for me.
Together we can measurably do things and talk towards solutions (I see as improving "communications" right now AS the actual solution)
We can solve individually the same-ish problems, and eventually more as a crowd like a crowd-funder (only less money involved, more intelligence). Snowballing the right things 🌨️ =☃️+ 🏂 / 🏦 🚫 = 📊 #FreeSchool
