last passing pipeline: https://dev.azure.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/_build/results?buildId=25066&view=logs&j=aa39683c-d595-5f65-0b25-75adb2a2e3f3
first failing pipeline: https://dev.azure.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/_build/results?buildId=25067&view=results

It seems to be on both 3.5.x and main and across all versions of the windows image (we hold py38 back and let py39 and py310 float on "latest").

Nothing jumped out at me skimming the logs.
