if you are in student plan then please check the student plan policy of student plan. it is changed now it only give gptmodel all claude high performance model are removed. |

If you are still on a free trial of copilot pro, the models will not appear because you are still on a 'free' tier. I had a few days of copilot pro free trial left, and needed to change this setting to get the models back:

It's truly sad to see how such a large and important company in the IT sector treats students. The current price of Opus 4.6 is simply unaffordable for students from most countries. The lack of a better model for students will lead to them falling behind in their education and the development of their projects. |

Hi everyone, After fighting like you for some time, I found Opus 4.6 back by simply changing the "Set Session Target" from "local" to "Claude", the dropdown menu at the very bottom of the chat. I have pro subscription from my university. Model still costs the same as before, 3x. Hope it helps! Luca |

Anyone who makes more than 1025 requests per month on their student pro plan is going to save money by getting the Pro+ plan even before this set-back. If you were already paying for extra requests, check your usage before paying for just the Pro plan. This was a good wakeup call for me. |

Thanks, Microsoft. I was in the middle of a project and was using sonnet. you really caused me problems. The other options to use suck and that includes copilot. I will never consider you as an employer worth looking at. Another Microsoft I don't care issue. goodbye, jerks. |

Hi,
About 15 minutes ago my GitHub Copilot model in VS Code auto‑switched from Claude Sonnet 4.6 to Auto, and now Sonnet 4.6 no longer appears in the model picker at all. I can still see other Claude models (Sonnet 4, Sonnet 4.5, Opus, etc.), just not Sonnet 4.6.
I’m on the GitHub Student plan (Copilot Pro) and I still have plenty of premium requests remaining, so it doesn’t look like a quota/usage issue. I haven’t changed any settings myself; it just switched on its own and the model vanished from the list.
Is this a known issue or outage with Claude Sonnet 4.6, or is this a bug specific to my account/VS Code setup? Any guidance or confirmation would be appreciated.
