Linux Mint is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu, which in turn is based on Debian, which aims to offer a much more accessible, easier to use, more comfortable, and more elegant user experience than the one offered by the former two. This distribution also comes with a host of free and open-source software that is ready to install and use, as well as multimedia codec libraries to meet all your needs.

A very simple installation process

Installing Linux Mint is very simple. Simply put the ISO on a DVD or USB stick (to do this, you may need to use a third-party program, such as Etcher). Next, you will need to reboot your PC and, from the BIOS, select to boot from the USB or DVD drive, depending on which one you are using. After that, just follow the installation instructions step by step, which are very simple. In any case, on the official Linux Mint website, you can find a complete guide, including screenshots.

Dozens of apps included as standard

Unlike other distributions, Linux Mint comes with a wide range of open-source software included with the installation. From the Software Manager itself, you will be able to decide which programs you want to install; you will have the opportunity to choose among classics such as LibreOffice, Firefox, Krita, Thunderbird, Virtualbox, HexChat, Pidgin, Transmission, and VLC, among many others. Installing all these programs can be done in just one click. And, of course, they are all completely free of charge. No catch and no fine print.

A perfect distribution for gaming

One of the great concerns of those installing operating systems other than Windows is the idea that they will no longer be able to play the majority of video games. That is not the case with Linux Mint. The program is perfectly compatible with more than 8000 Steam games, which you can easily download and install from your Linux distribution; not to mention the huge number of titles that you can find on GOG or Itchio that are fully compatible with your new distribution.

You can also keep Windows

A fact that some users do not know is that you can install Linux Mint and keep any version of Windows on the same PC. When booting your PC, you will simply see a window which will ask which operating system you want to load up. This way, if you are not completely sure you want to take the leap to a new operating system, you can try both for a while and then stick with the one you like best.

Download Linux Mint to experience a fast operating system that runs on virtually any PC and is highly convenient, with all the features you need just a click away. As if this were not enough, almost all the software you can download for Mint is completely free and open source, so you will rarely encounter nasty surprises when installing the new version of one of your favorite programs.

Almost a year ago, I lost it with Windows 10. It is an excellent OS. I hope to obtain it again, as Windows combined with Microsoft does not yield good results; they act like enemies. Thank you.
