1. Book purchase policy
i.
We purchase Textbooks and reference books as per the List provided by
University of Mumbai with Syllabus.
ii.
We purchase Personality development books, Literature books
iii.
We Purchase Competitive Examination Book with the help of Training and
Placement Officer and Teachers.
2. Book...especially text book lending status to Teachers
i.
We issue 5 Book to teachers for the Period of 1 month.
ii.
We charge Rs 2000/s as Library Deposit for Adhoc teaching Staff. Due to this
many teachers have not issue the books from library.
3. Book allowance and books purchased by teachers.
As per the conversation with Account Officer this scheme has been stopped.
Mostly teachers recommend to buy useful books for the library which
important for students examination purpose.
Also teachers get the Specimen Copy of Books direct from publishers for their
subjects.

Status of Departmental libraries
The all the department have the departmental library Except Civil Engineering
Department. Teacher Coordinator looks the functioning of Departmental
Library.

Utilization of Teachers' reading room in library
Average 2-3 teachers are utilizing the teachers Reading Room Facility.
Books Acquisition Policy
Academic Textbooks & Reference Books:
1. The Central library should refer the syllabus provided by University of Mumbai
for recommended Text book and Reference books.
2. Make the list of books by Department wise and Semester subject wise.
3. Check the availability of recommended books in Library.
4. After consulting the respective subjects teachers, the librarian will purchase
the non-availability of books.
5. For a particular subjects more than one title of textbooks and reference books
recommended, then procure 10 copies of most covered syllabus and procure
each 2 copies of books of other recommended books.
Competitive examination Books:
The competitive examination books cover various categories like GATE,
GRE-TOFEL, ILETS, UPSC or MPSC, Banking, Mental Ability test,
Reasoning-Verbal & non-verbal Examinations
1. These books are useful every students of any branch.
2. Multiple copies should be procured in proportionate manner with
students ratio and demand of these books.
Literature Books, Self help Books (Marathi & English)
1. The GIT Library also procures the Literature Books, Self help books (English
or Marathi) annually in proportionate manner.
2. Library should invite recommendation from Staff, Students for the collection
development of Literature books.
3. Librarian procures this group book, kind consultation with Principal.
A system of online ordering of books and purchase of books by Faculty during their
visits abroad has been introduced. Whenever, the faculty are in need of books
urgently, they may purchase books for the library from online book stores like
amazon.com, flipkart.com etc. using their own credit/debit cards after checking
with the library about its non-availability and with due certification from the library
to that effect. Same procedure of obtaining approval and financial sanction from the
appropriate authority will be followed. They may also be authorised to purchase
books on official foreign trips in similar way. Such requests may be processed by
circulation to LAC. In such procurements discounts may or may not be available.
Sometimes courier/postage charges are also included.
The faculty may be
reimbursed full amount paid on such transactions on the basis of credit/debit card
statement and the bill generated through the online
transaction.
Gift of Books
The GIT Library welcomes and encourages gifts in support of the
Institutes programs. Gifts of money, books, periodicals,
equipment, and other research materials contribute to the
Library's development. Modest gifts are much appreciated, as are
bequests, endowments, and larger contributions.
While the GIT Library encourages the donation of gift materials
and funds designated for the enhancement of its collections, it
reserves the right to refuse, discard, or weed materials which do
not meet its collection priorities and selection criteria or whose
poor physical condition prohibits their addition to the Library's
collections.
The Library will provide the donor with a list of items received.

Purpose

What is his/her Branch, Year, Semester, nos. Subjects?
When he/she admitted in Institute?
What was his/her last year performance?
How we can help these students via helpline?
Providing right guidance to come out from year drop.
If he/she clears the subject middle of the year and eligible for take
admission next academic year, then guide to pursue some his
branch related short term courses.
Provide resources-Notes, Question Papers.
Telephonic Conversation with students for clears his doubt.
Advantage
He/she will not feel depressed because institute is caring them
It will boost his morale will be benefited of examination.
This will create positive attitude among the students about the
Institute.
