NARRATIVE REPORT
2-DAY ORIENTATION ON RPMS- PPST FOR SY. 2020-2021
December 13-14, 2019
TEACHERS play a crucial role in improving the quality of the teaching and
learning process. Good teachers are vital to raising student achievement. Hence,
enhancing teacher quality ranks foremost in the many educational reform efforts
toward quality education.
The Department of Education again extend their expertise in giving the full
support on the RPMS-PPST to be continually implemented until teachers and Master
teachers reaches the 37 objectives.
For the 2- day orientation, I was able to understand well the preparation and
how the ratings goes. Our speakers like Dr. Lorebina C. Carrasco, Maam Mary Flor
Babia, Maam Pedrita Jordan, Maa Imelda Doria and Dr. Raul Dechosa gave us
understanding and deeper knowledge on what to do during class observations, the
preparation of Means of Verification, the flow of rating on IPCRF and the 12 new
objectives to be used for S.Y 2020-2021.
The PPST articulates what constitutes teacher quality through well-defined
domains, strands and indicators that provide measures of professional learning,
competent practice and effective engagement across teachers’ career stages. This
document serves as a public statement of professional accountability that can help
teachers reflect on and assess their own practices as they aspire for personal growth
and professional development.

For the 2- day orientation, I was able to understand well the preparation and how
the ratings goes. Our speakers headed by Dr. Lorebina C. Carrasco with Maam Mary
Flor Babia, Maam Pedrita Jordan, Maam Imelda Doria and Dr. Raul Dechosa gave us
understanding and deeper knowledge on what to do during class observations, the

PPST, RPMS, Self-Assessment Tools (SAT), Classroom Observation Tools (COT),
Portfolio Organizing, Professional Annotations and Portfolio Assessment were the seven

To understand and appreciate the PPST and the RPMS manual for teachers and
school heads, identifying the key concepts of the manual and the tools within the RPMS
cycle was elaborated well to have a good output and result this year and be prepared
for the 12 additional objectives and supporting MOVs this school year 2020-2021.
Meanwhile, RPMS Manual is crafted with the support of Australian Government
through the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Program and the Philippine
National Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ). This manual provides information
and guidance to teachers and school heads in the performance assessment process.
For teachers, it guides them through the basics of in preparing and completing RPMS
documents. For school heads, it contains all the information needed to assess teacher
