III- Procedure
A. ENGAGEMENT
1. Motivation
When can we say that the time now is daytime and when can we say it is night time?
2. Presentation
Show pictures at a time in the video.
What do you see in Picture A? (sun, children playing)
Is it daytime or night time?
What do you see in Picture B? (moon, stars)
Is it daytime or night time?
B. EXPLORATION
This morning we are going to learn things or objects found in the sky during daytime and during
night time. Let us watch the next video presentation. Please be attentive. What objects do you see in
the first picture? In the second picture?
C. EXPLANATION
Let us answer the following questions.
1. Based from the video that you had just watched, what are the objects that are seen in the
daytime? night time?
2. Why can we see objects in the sky during day time?
(The sun gives light and it helps us see objects around and the sky very clearly.)
3. Can we look directly at the sun? Why?
(No, because it will damage our eyes.)
4. There are times that objects are seen at night and sometimes not, why is this so?
(When the moon is bright, objects are seen at night but if the moon will not appear in the sky,
we can’t see objects around at night because it is dark.)
5. What other objects are usually seen in the sky during daytime aside from clouds and the sun?
(helicopter, jet plane, birds flying)
6. What objects are usually seen in the sky at night when the moon is bright?
(moon, stars, shooting stars)
D. ELABORATION
1. Concept Formation:
During day time, we can see the sun, the clouds, airplanes, helicopter, birds flying in the
sky because the sun is shining bright. Even if it is raining, we can still see dark clouds in the
sky because behind the dark clouds, the sun is still shining brightly.
During night time, only the moon and the stars are seen. The moon is seen because the
sun’s light is hitting it and that light will reflect on the earth where we are living.
If you have observed sometimes the earth is very dark at night because the sun’s light is
not hitting the moon and because of that, no reflection of the light will go to the earth and
that’s the reason why the sky is so dark. Nevertheless, stars can be seen because they have
their own light.
2. Short Debate
I’ll divide you into two groups. One group will all be boys and let’s call it the Night Group.
The other group are all girls and let’s call it the Day Group.
Boys will defend their group: It is better to have night time than to have daytime.
Girls will defend their group: It is better to have daytime than to have night time.
Each group will be given 5 seconds to give their reason.
E. EVALUATION
