Narrative Report On Virtual Orientation

The school conducted a virtual orientation for parents on September 28, 2020 using Google Meet to explain the new procedures for the 2020-2021 school year under the "new normal" due to COVID-19. Teachers created grade-level videos to describe the online, modular, and blended learning strategies. Most students do not have internet access, so modular learning where students receive and return paper modules each week was the preferred option. The school implemented safety protocols for distributing and collecting modules, including requirements for parents to wear masks, check temperatures, sign in, and procedures for disinfecting returned modules. The virtual orientation informed parents professionally so they were prepared for the school year's changes.

NARRATIVE REPORT OF PARENT’S VIRTUAL ORIENTATION

UNDER NEW NORMAL
S.Y. 2020 - 2021

Last 28th of September 2020, every grade level had conducted an orientation thru the

video conferencing software of Google, Google Meet. Each grade level groups had made

differing videos for the virtual orientation, each one is made with diligence and care so that it

may be entertaining and educational at the same time. In the said videos, it was explained how

the school will operate under the new normal and the changes in the mode of learning of the

students currently enrolled for the school year 2020-2021.

Different learning strategies are explained thoroughly by each grade level teachers on

their virtual orientations. Such strategies are online learning, wherein the student would be

required to have access to internet as classes on it would be conducted thru Google Meet and the

activities, quizzes and exams would be taken thru Google Forms; modular learning, wherein the

student would be given weekly modules and will be returned the following week; and the

blended learning, which is the combination of the two aforementioned learning strategies. Most

of the students do not have access on the internet, and so most of them had chosen modular

learning.

The school had prepared safety protocols for both teaching and non-teaching personnel,

and the parents, as the modular learning requires modules to be brought home to the students.

Parents were to go to school and receive the modules that would be distributed by their

child/children’s respective adviser. The said modules are already neatly piled on the desk for the

convenience of the parents who will get the modules and they are to be returned before the week

ends for the next batch of students to answer. Visitors must wear face mask at all times. They are
given IDs, their temperature would be taken and they are to sign attendance. When the modules

are taken back to the school by the parents, it would be disinfected with alcohol.

To sum up the virtual orientation’s result, it was conducted with professionalism and the

parents were guided accordingly, thus making them ready for this school year’s new normal.
