Based on the statement of the client her family is financially unstable that sometimes cause a
problem in providing their everyday necessities. She also has concern to her health most
specially that she is already a senior citizen which she suffers from arthritis and because financial
problem she didn’t afford to provide medicine for maintenance towards her commodities.
IV. Historical Background
Feliza Amorada is 64-year-old senior citizens she was born on July 4, 1957, in Ayusan Norte,
Vigan City. She is the daughter of Emanuel Amorada and Lurna Amorada. She is the third eldest
among her seven siblings wherein they have already their own family. Her father died due to
lungs failure because her father has many vises before such as smoking and drinking liquor while
her mother passed away due to asthma. From that on she works on as farmer to the land of her
parents.
She is already a widow 10 years ago to her late husband Rodrigo Amorada who died due to
heart attack. From then on, she shoulders the responsibilities in raising their two children for
being a farmer. Her son’s name Felipe Amorada 41 years old a laborer and he already had his
own family while her daughter Fatima Amorada has a live partner in Pantay daya and they are
living already together. And because she only attended elementary in her schooling, she ends up
choosing to work in farming to make a living.
She is living with her granddaughter Jennifer Amorada and her son in law Benedict Abejon
together with their children in a kubo house in Ayusan Norte Vigan City. They decided to stay in
together in one roof with her especially she is living alone before because her children have
already their own family and her son in law also helps her in farming.
Despite of her age she is still working in farm together with her son in law which is the
source of their income but still it is not enough to support their necessities and sometimes they
only got kaban of rice as income for farming. She is not having a daily income most specially
that farming is for seasonal only that result a problem in providing their everyday necessities.
Because of financial problem they are having a problem in providing the supplies that they
needed for their farm that why most of the time she borrows money to provide the necessities in
farming.
Their house is a "Bahay Kubo" made of nipa and bamboo trees that consist of one room
and they had their own comfort room. Their water supply is coming from deep well that they use
in cooking, washing clothes, and others, while they consume mineral water for drinking. There
had their own electric current. As their appliances a television and electric fan are available.
V. Assessment
Based to my assessment, the client needs a livelihood assistance that will be helpful
to start a small livelihood that will serve to earn additional income for her family. The client has
already old enough to do heavy work such farming and small livelihood can be suitable as
alternative way to support their everyday living. Most especially that the client has suffering into
a health problem (arthritis) and light work can be helpful to protect her health.
Medical assistance to access free medication to cure her arthritis most specially she
cannot be able to sustain her maintenance because of lack of financial, connected to this
providing health supplement such as vitamins is also a big help for the client to attain good
health. Providing farm supplies such as fertilizer, seedlings, and pesticide that they can be use in
farming wherein it will serve as their additional income. In this way they can be able to start
farming without compromising to provide the needed supplies to their farm.
