NTA UGC NET Exam
UGC NET Exam is conducted for those candidates who want to grow their
career in the Research field as Junior Research fellow (JRF) or Lectureship/
Assistant Professorship in Indian Universities and Colleges.
It is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) and is a national level test.
It is a Certification/Qualification Examination. Frequency of UGC NET Exam is
twice a year as it is conducted in June as well as December.
University Grants Commission of India is charged with coordination,
determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. It provides
recognition to universities and colleges in India. UGC NET Exam Qualification
Certificates are published by UGC only.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria
A candidate who is currently studying in the final year in any post
undergraduate degree program OR has already completed any government
approved post graduation degree is eligible for appearing in the UGC NET
Dec 2021/2022 exam.

While applying, there are two options to fill:

Assistant Professor Only (Means NET) - No age limit, but 55% (General)
is required.
Assistant Professor & JRF (Means JRF) - 30 years & 55% for General
Age Criteria:
30 years for General Category for JRF (5 years relaxation for Reserved
Categories - SC/ST/OBC)
No Age Limit for NET.

Note
NTA UGC NET Exam is a continuous 3 hours with Paper 1 & Paper 2.
1 hour is for Paper 1 and Two hours are for Paper 2.
Cutoff for NET and JRF are different. JRF is much harder to get and is
the goal for students wanting to do PhD since it gives a good stipend.
Exam is one, but different cutoff for both NET and JRF.
Certification for NET is valid lifetime but Certificate for JRF is valid for
3 years only.
